When is the defend tinubu group coming to flood your with meaningless conversations and try to steer the conversation into stupid things with one of them throwing shades at Obi to see if we will bite and focus on that argument? Then you'll see the other one drop a smiley and say to his tribalistic egbon "it's the message they got from their group".

Just chilling for the script 😁

All the 50 naira stamp duty charge and monthly maintenance fees nko? Why won't people complain when they know the money is likely to go the way of the rest.
Your backward policies are impoverishing people, making them not have value for the one they manage to earn with their sweat but imposing more levies on them after showing failure upon failure is what they've now conjured in their midnight witchcraft meeting, Shebi when there's no money to deduct from will they start arresting people with DSS? From banning crypto transactions on fintechs to this? Taking one of the sources of income from the youths and still asking them to submit owo mi da. Me I don't have strength to curse anybody this morning cause I wouldn't normally but you see this government they'll soon eat what they cannot swallow if they think they can continue using tortoise sense for the struggling populace they mostly improverished.

Nothing will happen. Even if fg starts taxing people 50% of what they earn, at most people will rant online for few days and everybody will adjust. Nobody in this planet adjusts to situations better than Nigerians. Adjusters de supremo.

The documents says it's 0.5%
Looks like this levy was passed by the national assembly.

when it's time to hold your elected officials accountable for what they pass to law, we wait for implementation time and start cussing Akanbi omo olodo ide

0.5% is the same as 0.005 mathematically

Personally I'm not surprised about this tax, I only find the name funny; "Cyber security levy" grin

What does that even mean?

Tinubu na tax man, so I expect more of such taxes to come in the future. Make everybody brace up

One thing that is very evident is that since May 29 2023 Tinubu was sworn-in, nobody don rest in this country be it OBIdient, ATIKUlated or BATist.

I remember the day he made pronouncement about subsidy removal, na so I carry car go one filling station to another looking for fuel to buy only to meet dozens of people doing the same. Presently people are still in filling station buying fuel for around N1k per liter almost one year after. Like people wake as early as 3am to join fuel queue whether they are BATists or OBIdient.

Prices of products have not come down, naira-dollar fluctuation is giving manufacturers and salesmen sleepless nights ; even the palliatives which was eagerly awaited by the people have not cushioned any effect of the hardship in the land.

People abroad may not really understand these things/directly feel the effect, but anybody living in this country definitely feels it.

I really feel for business people o because they always get blamed for increasing prices of their products, while the society overlooks how the customs duty for clearing their goods keeps fluctuating with the exchange rate.

I look forward to reading what Bayo Onanuga & Ajuri will list as top Tinubu's achievement that is verifiable and can be felt by Nigerians in general in the past one year.

This is the problem we have. You people have started justifying another loot by the irresponsible government.

Wasn't this the same thing we said with subsidy removal? Has anybodys life gotten better by virtue of any government initiative since subsidy was removed?

It's really not 50K on 10M, it's more 50K on the profit you'd make moving 10M for whatever purposes, so say your profit on a particular business is 10%, which comes to 1M, you're in fact paying 5% on the 1M you just made, and more often than not, you won't have made that 1M instantly simply by moving that original 10M, you'd make the 1M over the course of say 3-4 months, depending on how fast you move inventory, so while government don chop their profit at point of purchase clean mouth cheesy, you're left trying to make that 10% in a very unstable economy. God now help you if your reason for moving the money wasn't necessarily for a profit-making venture, maybe to grease business relationships or something...you're looking at a 50K hole in your business all for nothing.

There still needs to be a lot of communication on how the charges would be applied, and what sort of transactions...hopefully that is made clear in the coming days.

I help you sell a car. You agree to give me 1% of the price of the car. The buyer sends 10m to me as the agent, I remove my 100k, government steals 50k.

Na scenario, there's no way for them to determine profit, it's why the fixed rate makes sense, but I just dey explain give am say that 50K on 10M isn't necessarily 50K on 10M, but more on the profit of doing a business of 10M.

Exactly, there's no way the government plans to tax capital, the tax is targeted at profit and that contextualizes the tax...so that guy that would normally charge 1% would charge 1.5% and all of this increase gets passed on to the end user. We should plan for increase in price of commodities.
