I wonder while will a married man envy a bachelor or a married woman envy a single lady, I don't know ooo.
All these talk because of immorality.

This is not a counter attack but an analogous comparison.

Its more for both men and women instead of just being for the latter.

As per our society, it could be mainly because married men and women don’t experiment too much with their day to day routine. They are considered settled and mature. They are also expected to behave in a certain way by the society. You are considered better at managing finance. So as long as people give importance to what the society thinks about them, this will continue.

Also, married couples get properties easily as compared to unmarried people. Same way as people avoid renting out to lawyers, thinking that they will give them trouble at some point.

Its majorly because marriage is associated with being mature in Nigeria .There is an evident change in the way people treat you after marriage. You get respect overnight. Im still wondering myself how that happens but also happened with me when my sister got married 2 years ago. The world sees her as someone who can take her own decisions now. But there is a clear difference in the attitude of the people around her.

Why would a married woman envy a spinster?? When majority of spinsters are they one envying a married woman and would always wish to find love and get married someday. If staying single is nice then why are people getting married every week? 🙄

A married woman might envy a spinster only if she is not enjoying her marriage to the fullest.

grin this was my response on the first post of married men envying bachelors:

How can I envy a person who have not exercised his ability to make a woman change her name to his? grin
Now I will ask you another rhetoric to respond to this inverted post:
Why should a product checked out envy the products still on the shelf - that have not been able to get into the cart 🛒? wink

You completely missed the mark. Obviously married people who envy single people are not enjoying their marriage! It’s when people are not enjoying their experiences that they yearn for something else. There are single women who enjoy being single and do not envy married women. So you didn’t understand the assignment.

Before I got married and had kids, I was asking myself if some married women/mothers sometimes wished they were living my life. I was successful at my career and had a lot of freedom to enjoy the money I was making.

Now that I am married and have kids, I can answer the question for myself.

Even though I loved being single and had a really good life in my beautiful apartment and lots of freedom to do all the things I enjoyed, which I don`t have time for anymore, I wouldn`t trade my husband and kids for anything in this world. I love them so much. If I didn`t have them, I wouldn`t know what I am missing but now that I have them, I feel that nothing would bring me more joy than them.

However, I am looking forward to the time when the kids depend less on me and give me more space to binge on a Netflix series or read three books in a week or just go on a shopping spree or for dinner with my friends.

But then again, by that time I will miss it when my little one wanted to cuddle mama and when it took only my presence to make them feel that all is well.

You can't say something like this without elaborating na. Why do you think or feel that it can be a trap?
two people have sex to bring a child into the world. Only one person will risk her life to bring the child into the world, and in most cases takes almost the full responsibility of raising the child into adulthood and still has to work to provide for the family. If that is not a trap for women, I don't know what is. Typically a woman loses a large portion of her identity when she has a child, she is now the 2nd priority in her life.

There was a man in my place of work whose wife was went through a CS about 30mins prior and as he was holding the newborn, she pooped. The man's face twisted like amala, so I decided to be mischievous. I as the doctor who was called in to check the baby, gave him the diaper to change. The way he looked at me as if I gave him an Ak-47, the nurses were busy lifting the mother from the stretcher to her bed. I simply told him that it's his child so he should learn how. He said he was going to call his mother, that it wasn't his job. I told him that the child is his responsibility, especially as his wife is recovering and still asleep. Welcome to parenting sir. I gave him detailed instructions without lifting a single finger on the steps to clean a diaper.

I hope he learnt something that day.

I’m guessing this is your observation as a single woman rather than your experience as a married woman.?

I only ask because of your thread where you said your long term boyfriend married another woman.

Modified: I think your ex just responded to the said thread

I wouldn't say envy is the right word though for some married women.

As much as you love your husband and kids and they are the best things that happened to you.

There are times you just want some away time, some me time to do things you could do when you were single without any disturbance, sleep when you like, wake when you like etc etc. Now you just have to wait till the kids are grown enough.
