StOla:Who says a school is not responsible for health care? Whilst I was in Boarding School and I frequency fell I'll, my school was responsible for my care and took me to a Government hospital when they couldn't handle the situation and I was fine. Sylvester's parents live far away in Delta State. So are you saying it is right for any school to watch a child die when he could easily have benn taken to a good hospital within the Metropolis? Would you say same if the boy in question was your son? Bone of contention is, what led to the boys illness, infection and death? Was he bullied or not? If he was, did the School exercise any duty of care, was the school negligent? Is there evidence to support same? Did the boy give his own testimony before he died or not? |

I am tired of commenting on this matter, but it is safe to say that a case of gross parental negligence was at play, Please ask this man again 1. how long was the boy away from school with an infection before he died. 2. How many doses of antibiotics did he get His autopsy clearly depicted he died from sepsis, sepsis is widespread infection all over the body, that a child in this day and age with sepsis did not get appropriate and adequate antibiotics is the main picture here and the cause of death. And that was his father's decision He should own up to his role first before attempting to sabotage the future of those 5 boys in hid denial, let us remember that 3 of those boys where not even at the incident they are pinning on them, widespread ignorance is the only reason anyone is enabling his father,he should grieve in private on this matter |

Digmygold:It is to prevent such liabilities and accusations that schools are not responsible for a student's Healthcare beyond first aid. Many schools besides government schools would never try what you experienced, in a world of lawsuits and criminal culpabilities. Treat your child as you see fit. And that is what transpired with the parents that took their child to the church for treatment, because that is what they saw fit. As for the claims of what led to the boy's sickness which the parents have claimed it was injury inflicted by bullies, do they have any evidence to support their claim? Nobody takes joy in the death of a child, anyone in the parents' shoes would understand their grief and their inability to see things outside of their own perspective. |

Paulruth:Yes the system works for justice, not for everyone as there would always be a losing side when justice is dispensed. |

I pray that the OROMONI gets justice. Nigeria judiary is becoming worse by the day. Justice will not bring the son alive but it will help to tell the world the whole truth. Now the judiciary is telling lies and hiding facts. |

StOla:I am not in their shoes yet I understand their grief as you should too. The boy was at a Boarding Facility and there are different levels of medical attention needed at a Boarding School. You cant tell me the school is not responsible for a child's health care beyond First Aid. If a child needs more than First Aid to survive the school should get into action by ensuring that the right medical care is administered in order to keep the child alive. So if for instance, a child falls off a Two Storey building or gets electrocuted the school should only administer First Aid and watch the child die? Are you thinking right at all? Would you want anyone to watch your own child die when they have the ability to do otherwise? In Sylvester's case he needed more than First Aid, he was a Boarding School Student under their care. It was their responsibility to ensure that they exhausted all available options to keep him alive. What do you mean by just First Aid? There is also Electronic Evidence from Sylvester where he narrated how he was bullied by some Senior Students and forced to drink a substance. How about that? |

For me, I believe the case as that of parental negligence. The father of the late boy is just trying to clear his own mess. Your son was sent home from school for being sick and for proper treatment. He told you he was bullied, or injured, whatever he told you. Then you called a family doctor to come and check your son, instead of taking your son to the hospital as first care of a caring and observant Father. The doctor came as requested and even after giving drugs or drips or injections, for even 2 days without improvement should send an alarm to your head that this son needs proper care at the hospital not home visit by a doctor. After all you are a well to do Parent, even those without money take their kids to the hospital for proper care not talk of one who is financially good. Yet for several days, you kept your sim at home in the guise that he told you he was bullied. What is more important than the life of your son. The bully’s at school or the immediate care of a son by the parents? The Father needs to be asked more questions if he continues in this charade. We cannot totally absolve the school but what more can they do if they sent the boy back home after initial first aid treatment. Did the father do the needful, absolutely no. He was joking with the life of his son. The boy didn’t deserve what he got. My condolences to him. |
