The creditor will file a case in court and the defendant will be serviced with the notice accordingly. In the case, the creditor has not filed any case in court. The police has no business arresting portable

Get a lawyer,who will secure a court summon, that will invite your debtor to appear in court,if he fail.... you know the consequences. ( Contempt of court) You heard that before?
If he appears in court he may admit not being guilty for reasons you don't know, or not even owing you, which may be argued.
He may also admit he or she owed you and promise to pay back within a time frame, this time frame and it's terms and conditions of payment will be determined by the court.

He ran cos he probably has some contraband (drugs) in his pocket, which could give him a more serious case than the car case if the police finds it on him. He probably threw away the drugs before they eventually caught him. That's my guess.

Anyway he should have just followed them, called his lawyer. Police has no case recovering debt. Where it could be criminal and involve police is if he eg issued a did cheque in lew of his balance debt. Aside that, I think this is a civil matter that the car dealer should have sued portable for his balance and damages based on breach of agreement.
Anyway resisting arrest after presented with a warrant might be what is causing his present issues. Surely at best the police oga that invited him would have tried to resolve the issue between him and the car dealer and if not advice the complainant to go to court.

Any fool can issue an arrest warrant but you as a Nigerian should know that the legality of such a document can be challenged.

Secondly, since when did issuance of arrest warrant justify the brutality of an UNARMED civilian? Yes he resisted arrest and he is within his rights to do so.
