By the way, the rates at which men in uniforms at various checkpoints extort motorists are alarming. That is one of the main reasons that price of goods are very high. Too many bribes along the highways. Government need to revisit this and set up spys and task force to deal with them and those agberos and union touts.

True,but that is mild offence compared to an extortionist,who is parading himself as a Nigerian Army,when he is not.
It's good that ALL Our Security Officers should be checking on their Junior Ones,who usually takes the Laws into their hands! This exercise should be extended to Nigerian Police,mostly planted on our roads,for Nigeria to have sanity!

Defacing the currency is illegal period. He should've noted the serial number of the bills. Setting traps is not going to ever solve this problem of extortion by soldiers .... the root of the problem is having the military involved in civilian matters. They are not Police ... knowing the laws is not part of their training... they do not have the legal authority to arrest nor to charge civilians .... they do not appear in civilian courts ..... but yet we accept this ... we accept Police and Soldiers are the same.... same duties same powers. Joint Operations ... Police and Soldiers... when the fire power of the law breakers is too much for the Police... the Soldiers are at the front engaging in the firefight.... in the end the Police step in make the arrests.... gather the evidence.... press the charges and make the prosecutions. What does the military do?... return to the barracks. Soldiers have no business with civilians.
