Almaigaa:Stop deceiving Nigerians all in the name of Cheap politics of bitterness. Your narrative is even proof that you know nothing about Edo, are not resident in Edo and therefore are just on a fishing expedition of deception. One of the first things that the current governor on the assumption of office did was the introduction of the contributory pension scheme which is regulated by Federal Pension laws.... Therefore Pensioneers receive their pension directly from Pension Fund Administrators (PFA's) which are private companies & not from state government. So how can Edo state be owing pension? See how obvious your ignorance is....? Edo State government is owing nobody pension..... Secondly, the news cutout you posted from channels TV has nothing to do with pension but gratuity. That's gratuity payment arrears that predates this Administration. When Oshiomole became governor he inherited gratuity arrears from Osaremen Osunbur dating back to 1983. He paid them uptill year 2000 and stopped.... That's why they took the protest to Obaseki to please continue the balance payment. In fact, the Chairman of Edo state pensioners during their last protest categorically said that they have been receiving pension without hitches, that their concern is that after Obaseki goes, they are not sure if the next governor will be consistent as he is; hence the protest for the gratuity arrears payment to be sped up..... In case you are not aware; gratuity is not pension. Gratuity (under the old legacy system, before the introduction of Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS) is the bulk sum that is paid to you after you retire which is supposed to cover you for a period of 6months to a year..... After that monthly pension payments begin to come in... Under the New CPS, the state government gives your money to PFAs, you can call them pension banks, when you retire, you decide how they pay you. After retirement, you do revalidation of your info with them & they pay you 25% of the total sum deposited by both you & the state. Then you decide how the balance is paid to you either through annuity or pre-programed instalmental payments. The way CPS works, during your service years, the state pays a Percentage of your salary every month, you also pay a percentage of your Salary monthly through deductions to a PFA of your choice. The PFA uses your money to do business & renders accounts to you on monthly & annual basis. By the time you retire, you go to them & do revalidation & capturing & collect your money. The state isn't involved in the process at all.... |

Commendable but it's a campaign tactics. Edo needs a transformer to build infrastructures (roads, industry) that will create jobs and build its economy |

richidinho:flood is a big problem and minimum wage is also a bigger problem so give him kudos for solving the biggest problem.all Edo workers don't ride on that flooded road but all of them will enjoy minimum wage . They suffer flood during raining season only but will enjoy this money throughout the year. This is a great feet kudos to the governor |

Paraman:What do you know about Edo State? His candidate to succeed him has been one of the chief economic advisors to both him and Oshimole for years, and knows the Edo state economic landscape inside out. Trust me Edo state is in safe hands economically. |

Agadinaagwuofe:Let me tell you, practically every state in Nigeria can pay 70k minimum wage. The problem with so many of you is your are unbelievably ignorant of the amount of corruption and wastage in most states. Did you not see the Kogi chap and how much he paid the America school for his kids school fees? What of Wike demanding 25 billion from Rivers per month? Obaseki as a seasoned banker has run the affairs of Edo state effectively. Long before now, he was paying 13th month salary for edo workers. It's not hard when you have a a governor that is focused on the welfare of his people. |

Paraman:And why is that if I may ask? So civil servants in the state should continue suffering like other states not paying the minimum wage until a new governor is elected!! Recognize and commend a good thing or deed when you see one even if you are aversed to the situation |
