flokii:Una don come with this phrase again: Ogun state has more oil and even had deposits than the entire South east region. Last time was that Ogun state GDP is bigger than the whole SE put together but we saw that IMO and Anambra are far bigger than any SW states with exception of no mans land which is Naija property. They are just about trying to search for oil and you are here measuring your small Dik. IMO and Anambra state has the largest gas deposit and they are not making animal noise. Humble yourself and stop chestbeating for nothing. |

FreeStuffsNG:There's a vast quantity of crude oil and gas in the Dahomey Basin of which Ogun State is an integral part of. Tongeji Island and Ogun Waterside areas of Ogun State have oil-bearing terrains from geological surveys. Ogun will soon join Lagos State and Ondo State as a full-fledged oil and gas state. "DAHOMEY BASIN OPL 325" =>https://lekoil.com/asset/nigeria-dahomey-basin-opl-325/ Preliminary review of the prospects, based on an independent study by Lumina, prepared for LEKOIL, suggests oil in place volumes of up to 5.7 billion barrels with an estimated 2 billion barrels recoverable based on analogues. ChiefJusticeFuc:There's NOTHING like Delta Ibo. What you have in that area of Delta North is a large number of communities founded within the last 800 years by migrants from Edo groups as Bini-Edo, Esan-Edo, Yoruba (Olukumis), Igalas, Nri. The great Anioma son who was in a active service for the Catholic church in Igbuzo (formerly called Ibusa) during the Nigerian Civil War, Reverend Father Kunirun Osia in an interview he granted to Emeka Esogbue shortly before he passed said CLEARLY that it is WRONG for misinformed people right from the colonial era until of recent to erroneously continue to refer to ALL indigenes of Anioma as Ibos or Delta Ibos, because ALL Anioma indigenes came from multiple ethnic groups. Kunirun Osia was an indigene of Obamkpa in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State which the same LGA that the Olukumi towns or community are located close to Onicha Ugbo, and Isele Uku in the same Delta North. |

FreeStuffsNG:Buildings of any form - roads to houses - did not cause the modern day gully erosion problems in the SE region. Oil exploitation did. Do a research to see how. The oil producing areas of the Niger delta region redeive a pittance from the resources in their immediate vicinity. The difficult terrain of the Niger delta region necessecitates more percentage than what is given from derivation so far. Mich of the proceeds from oil is funnelled to the old Northern region through proliferation of 20 new federating units in the old Northern region but a meagre number of 17 states in the two southern regions. Land mass or population figures is NEVER used as yardstick to proliferate too many states or regions in an area with larger land mass or population, in a country formed by different regions. The 36 states political structure created by northern military dictators who created 20 states in one region but 17 states for 2 regions, remains the hugest FRAUD about Nigeria. The oil producing areas of the Niger delta region should have become like Dubai if not that the proceeds of oil from the Niger delta region is denied the region. |

kikake:Gully erosion , including those in your SE, is a result of the interaction of land use, climate and slope. It has nothing to do with SS states. The North is not responsible for the poverty in the SS. You're still in denial but for how long ![]() I have shared with you what SS states can do before the real day of problems comes. There has never been a monolithic North, some of the places you referred to as North are parts of Yorubaland and inhabited ancestrally by Yoruba while some parts of the North were even formally part of Cameroon. Whoever is not faithful with little will not be faithful with many so please stop making excuses for the corrupt and poor performing leaders in the South who produced convicted leaders like Late Alams, Chief James Ibori and but for perpetual injunction, may arguably have included Dr Odili. |
| Re: Ogun To Join Oil Producing States, As Exploration Commences by kikake: 1:39am On Jun 01, 2024 |
FreeStuffsNG:Let's give to the oil producing areas the much they deserve, not ask them to be faithful with the little given them. There are worse corrupt governors in the SW and northern regions than the Iboris, Alams, and possibly the Dr Odilis, in the SS region. On independence day in 1960, we had Eastern, Western and Northern regions that formed independent Nigeria country. Each of the three regions was quasi self-governing and were the three federating units of Nigeria. But beginning 1967 - 1996, northern military dictators progressively turned Nigeria into a country with 20 federating units in the northern region, but 17 federating units in the two southern regions; with proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region shared to sustain the 36 states and Abuja federating units. This new political structure and resources proceeds sharing system unarguably confered excessive political and economic advantages to the old Northern region but emasculated the two southern regions politically and economically. How else do you define a FRAUD if you don't see fraud in the 36 states and Abuja political structure under unitary government system? |

flokii:It seems Nairaland is filled with low IQ individuals. Without even measuring the quantity of oil in Ogun state, you wake up from the wrong side of your bed to declare that Ogun state has more oil that Saudi Arabia. Be patient, wait for the exploration to be completed. For all we know. Ogun state might have more oil than the whole world put together. |

flokii:People, why are you falling for a story that is more of an illusion than reality? I don't know if there are any carbon deposits in the southwest but from my experience there are none. why did I say this? 1. Exploration for Carbon deposits is a very expensive endeavor and I don't think Nigeria government at present has the money to do that. Valero an oil company in Texas, I once wrote a cost roll-up program for one of their well in the Permian Basin of Texas. Just setting up one exploration deck was over $20m. This was on a land, not some offshore place. Imagine spending $20m with no assurance of striking oil. 2. None of the Big Oil companies are involved in this project which tells me they don't think there are any deposits worth exploring. I hope I am wrong. |

chidooh1:You can believe it or not, na you sabi. If it exists or not, we will all know in the nearest future. But the fact that the refinery built in Lagos State by Dangote was suppose to have been situated in Tongeji island in Ikpokia, but for the greediness of a former Ogun State Governor. That only should tell you what sits beneath that part of the State alone. Ogun State is immensely blessed with huge deposits of untapped natural resources. But I would rather the State leverage on its agricultural strength, however, as always, Nigerians like shortcuts to doing things, while the people are never patient enough to reap the benefits of long term developmental and economic plans, the various govts look for quick fixes to things. Governors don't like to invest in projects that won't yield until they are out of government, for the fear of abandonment by subsequent governments and not taking the full glory and reaping the financial result. Oil and Gas leaves blood and crisis at Its wake at the host community. |
