These are states producing oil in commercial quantities, check their 13% derivation and debt

The nine oil-producing states in Nigeria shared N970.20 billion from the federation account through the 13 percent derivation formula in 2022.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed that Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers were states that received the fund.

The 13 percent derivation fund comes from the federation revenue to oil-producing communities through the state governments as enshrined in section 162, sub-section 2 of the Nigerian constitution.

Analysis of the report by TheCable Index showed that Delta state received the highest allocation totalling N296.63 billion, representing 31 percent of the total revenue from the derivation account.

Delta is followed closely by Akwa Ibom, having received N222.52 billion, representing 19 percent of the total disbursement during the period.

Other states include Bayelsa (N188.02 billion), Rivers (N169.79 billion), Edo (N37.49 billion), Ondo (N25.95 billion), Imo (N18.61 billion), Abia (N6.95 billion), and Anambra (N4.25 billion).

The 13 percent derivation fund is different from the three percent provided for host communities in the PIA from the oil company’s operating expenses (OPEX).

Anambra started receiving 13% oil Derivation on August 2022, I believe Anambra annual derivation will increase this year, and we have a prudent manager of our state economy which will go far in providing more infrastructures, Soludo is also walking to improve state IGR to 5 billion monthly

Edo state oil production has increased considerably.

I thought they claimed that Lagos is now a major oil producing state, did federal government refuse to pay them derivation or another lie got exposed?

Imo, Abia and Anambra remain the worst in that list. They are the only one with domestic debt profile x10 of oil earnings and they are the ones that shout my "oiyel, oiyel" most. The debt is too much, they should caution themselves about borrowing more. Relying on federal allocation, IGR and oil 13% oil derivatives can't bring true development to these regions, their governors should look inward and be more creative to harness other options. Soludo has started well, he should set out workable plan to offset some of this debt on long and short term basis without affecting developmental plan for Anambra. LP in Abia should brace up for challenges ahead, people want to see what he will do different than those that were there before once his election honeymoon is over

Abia a poor state? Stop consuming yoruba propaganda. Just that Aba was not taken care of for many years because of political disagreement and that situation has already changed
