Konquest:=>https://businessday.ng/energy/article/huge-oil-gas-find-validates-lekoils-bet-on-dahomey-basin/ Early interest by Nigeria’s leading oil exploration firms including Lekoil Nigeria Limited (with Lekan Akinyanmi as the CEO) exploring the Dahomey Basin, a combination of inland and coastal offshore fields stretching from Ghana, through Togo and Benin to southwest Nigeria, has yielded a potential 5 billion barrels of oil and billions of cubic feet of gas reserves, which could turn the region into the next frontier of commercial oil exploration writes ISAAC ANYAOGU. "Lekoil ramps up investments" Lekoil Nigeria Limited has four assets (OPL 310 being its flagship) which bear both oil and gas. The OPL 310 asset is offshore Lagos, barely 20 kilometres from Nigeria’s hub of commercial activities, and contains the Ogo discovery, which is the largest in Nigeria. Lekoil has a 62 percent shareholding in OPL 325, an exploration block of approximately 100 kilometres south of Lagos. While it is yet to drill the block, the company has access to 3D seismic data of over 740 km of oil deposit. A preliminary review of the prospects suggests oil in volumes of up to 5.7 billion barrels with an estimated 2 billion barrels recoverable based on analogues. Further seeing a pathway to driving drilling in the Dahomey Basin mainstream, Lekoil increased its interest in the concession to 40 percent, following the acquisition of one of its licences from Afren Oil and Gas in 2015. “The discovery of oil in the Ogo-1 well opens up a new oil basin in an under-explored region and represents a possible extension of the Cretaceous play along the West African Transform Margin. The discovery is a clear validation of Lekoil’s technical analysis and of our extensive studies on the Dahomey Basin,” Akinyanmi said in an interview with BusinessDay. Lekoil’s asset also includes OPL 276 where the company has a 45 percent participating interest. The asset was acquired in 2019. Historically, four wells have been drilled in the license area, resulting in four discoveries (two oil and two gas) with preliminary resource estimates of gross recoverable volumes of 29 million barrels of oil and 333 Bcf of gas, with upside of 33 million barrels of oil and 476 Bcf of gas (recoverable). Lekoil is still waiting to renew the license on the asset to start working on the block. My guy tell them oooo. Most of the people arguing do so along tribal lines. Professionals in the oil industry know the truth. There's also lots of political undertone to the issue of oil in Nigeria. We are yet to even tap into much of offshore deposits, probably because we've not acquired the technical know how. Oil is not a monopoly in this part of Africa, stop fooling yourselves! StOla: |

Bulldozer90:~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Let me step right into this convo and make corrections in your post. The FALSE and highly misleading figure of 200 trillion cubic ft of gas reserve for Imo State since 2021 is NOT tenable. The reference to the former Minister of State for Petroleum as being the source of that info in 2021 is false and the report emanated from unofficial bloggers and overzealous social media posters, NOT from an official source like NUPRC did in the link below. The TOTAL RESERVE of natural gas in Nigeria both onshore and offshore as of January 1, 2024 stood at 209.26 trillion cubic feet (TCF) as stated by NUPRC in the Website below: =>https://www.nuprc.gov.ng/nigerias-oil-and-gas-reserves-soar-nuprc-unveils-impressive-figures/ 16 APR 2024 NIGERIA’S OIL AND GAS RESERVES SOAR: NUPRC UNVEILS IMPRESSIVE FIGURES The latest figures on Nigeria’s crude Oil and Gas reserves have been released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). So, you people out of overzealously have embarrassingly been throwing around that FALSE and highly misleading figure of 200 trillion cubic ft of gas reserve for Imo State since 2021 without FACT-CHECKING this info against the global figures. The TOTAL GLOBAL natural gas reserve is estimated at 6,923 trillion cubic ft! Therefore the Imo State gas reserve is NOT 200 trillion cubic ft like you and others are spreading around cyberspace. Someone right on this same page also gave a different figure of natural gas reserve for Imo State of a little over "1 trillion cubic ft" of gas. FACT-CHECKING is very necessary. A section of the media, propaganda Websites, bloggers, and YouTubers are responsible for this misinformation no doubt. =>https://www.worldometers.info/gas/gas-reserves-by-country/ Natural Gas Reserves by Country #Country Gas Reserves (MMcf) World Share 1 Russia 1,688,228,000 24.3% 2 Iran 1,201,382,000 17.3% 3 Qatar 871,585,000 12.5% 4 United States 368,704,000 5.3% 5 Saudi Arabia 294,205,000 4.2% 6 Turkmenistan 265,000,000 3.8% 7 United Arab Emirates 215,098,000 3.1% 8 Venezuela 197,087,000 2.8% 9 Nigeria 180,490,000 2.6% >https://www.worldometers.info/gas/ World Gas Reserves There are 6,923 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven gas reserves in the world as of 2017. yinkeys:The government does not have Cocoa company the same way it has Nigeria National Petroleum Company ( NNPC ) so the only people making money from cocoa are private farmers and companies that export cocoa. The government will only get taxes from these companies. That is one of the reasons Nigeria is not reaching it's true potential of been a multi trillion dollar economy.. More NNPC like companies in other industries need to be created for Nigeria to reach its potential. |
