Pep really made a huge contribution with the revolution in the world of football. Soccer has now becomes a more beautiful sport to watch, thanks to his brilliance.

My thought is just that one should not give praises to him more than he deserves. His superb expertise have made him to domesticate countries' leagues.

But he is still largely flawed in the biggest stage(UCL). Overall, no coach is the king. The dominance award shouldn't be given to none for now.

They have won the European cup (later changed to champion league) before that time and they are one of the biggest team in Portuguese league with several champion league appearance before that time. They even won the UEFA European league two years before. So Porto and wolves are never in the same category.

Man United was the biggest team in the land and rose astronomically under Matt Busby before Munich air crash that killed many of their players & officials. Also, they won the champions league equivalent in those days as champions of Europe.

Alex Ferguson was notorious for prioritizing the EPL. He only had United reaching 20 EPL titles in mind. He desired the champions league but was always criticized for his approach in Europe.

Keep in mind that he won European title with a very small club, Aberdeen before joining United. That's like Guardiola or Ancellotti winning Europa cup, beating Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, with Luton Town & no superstar players.

Arsenal wenger is a great coach too, spent 22yrs at arsenal and never won anything in Europe, mourinho has also spent 20+ years in management but won it just twice, he didn't win it with madrid despite have a star studded squad.

You are right about Ancelotti and small clubs but you threw logic away by mentioning Pep who never managed any small team. Mourinho and Ferguson had huge success building up small teams, though Porto was always big in Portugal. Aberdeen was truly small even at home.

Not at Aberdeen. Also, he built his success at Man United through their academy after initial failure with established stars. He was mocked when he started the revolution and told you win nothing with kids. His success was built on United academy class of 92.

Instanbul 2005 was unbelievable. The great all-conquering Liverpool were already an average team in the EPL overshadowed by age-long rivals Man United and filled with bang average players, underachievers and a few upcoming talents. He wasn't overhyped. The English Premier league was highly deficient when it comes to European football, the league improved more after Euro 96 when foreigners started trooping enmasse to the league and the football quality improved.
