True, football was more competitive then and hard workers like Sir Alex Ferguson went through hell to attain success. Even when Manchester United had all the money in the world to buy the very best players the man only randomly pick one or two to blend into his team structure. He maintained their culture of academy players maturing into the team and blended with established stars bought at intervals. Unlike today when my Pep Guardiola will buy, try and sell 4 different left backs, 3 different goalkeepers etc before eventually getting it right.

As dominant as utd , arsenal and Newcastle were back then.. blackburn rovers still won the league because it was extremely competitive..
Football can never be as entertaining as it was back then ..

I really don't think any team will be able to do what liverpool did 19yrs ago.
Or lehman getting a red card , and Campbell netting to give arsenal a lead, outplaying barca with 10 men in 06.. when was the last time u really watched two good teams in a champions league final? It aint competitive anymore .

You are dead wrong. Every keen and unbiased football follower knows of the fact that Alex Ferguson was obsessed with breaking Liverpool's record in the EPL. There was even a popular quote about his obsession.
After what his team went through in 1999, he refocused fully on the EPL.

Definitely not overhyped unless you harbor some bitterness against him for reasons best known to you. His trophy record is there to see.

He is great when all the ingredients are there and his success cannot be denied. However, Ancelotti failed at smaller teams but that doesn't make him overhyped.

I appreciate the fact that he had the balls to take on jobs at smaller teams. Some of the so-called genius managers will never expose themselves by doing that.

Yes, the smaller club talk is out of the discussion since one of them hasn't experienced it.

Pep really made a huge contribution with the revolution in the world of football. Soccer has now becomes a more beautiful sport to watch, thanks to his brilliance.

My thought is just that one should not give praises to him more than he deserves. His superb expertise have made him to domesticate countries' leagues.

But he is still largely flawed in the biggest stage(UCL). Overall, no coach is the king. The dominance award shouldn't be given to none for now.

For me Pep is still the best coach in the world.

Ferguson is not overhyped.

Before he joined Man United, he won the European Cup Winners Cup with a small team called Aberdeen beating Bayern Munich in the quarter final and Real Madrid in the final.

He also won the European Super Cup that year.

He went on to break Liverpool's record in the English league, a feat many thought was impossible at that time. He told them he would do it and he did.

Mane joined from Southampton, he wasn't exactly big.

Salah was average at Basel, Chelsea & Fiorentina then better at Roma before exploding at Liverpool.
