You don't understand, he said the government was not interested in counting the money in your account, it was a flat rate of N20. People had over N2000, his father had a 404, at that time, the government cheated the people more

I realized they might just give a flat rate to everyone, so I worked with my brothers to open 28 different accounts and collected the 20 naira per account.

I love him for saying this aspect of his story. Not many people will say that, "l was once a cheater, rather a righteous from birth. Now that GUO realizes his errors and breakthroughs, has he acknowledge God by accepting HIS offers of salvation to humanity.if not l encourage him to do that, otherwise, all these are vanity without God.

He would be prosecuted by the same government that cheated him and his people by paying them only 20 pounds flat, including those who worth millions as of the time? Can you just listen to yourself.

He who must come to equity must come with clean hand
Are you saying that if he has been caught by the then military government, he would have gone scot free?

You matter be like that if heritage bank with over 98% of customers not having up to 5M but as account no them all Igbos be millionaires back then.

This is aside the multitude of foolish souls like this bastard foolish n cursed criminal that opened 28 account to collect money he bastard never worked for.
Not all worth millions but majority of them worth far more than the wicked policy of paying them 20 pounds flat, including this very man that just stated in his story that he was making 16 pounds per day by using his car to convey passengers from Onitsha to Enugu immediately after the civil war ended.

He opened 28 accounts but I'm sure he still got far below what he worth as of then, for someone who was making 16 pounds per day.

Moreover, there is hardly a billionaire who doesn't 1 or 2 dirty dealing that skyrocketed him

Did you read the story very well? He said he opened 28 different accounts and deposited money in all of them. The Nigerian govt out of wickedness said they'd give each Igbo account owner 20 pounds each no matter how many millions you have in your account. So he go 20 pounds from each of those accounts. It was his money, not fraud.
How about the other millionaires who obeyed the government policy and collected the 20naira. No mincing words, he was at the wrong side of the law at the time

You opened 20 different accounts to take 20 naira each. Trust me 20 different people didn't get that 20 naira because of your decision and they were poor. How do you pay them now for all they lost in life
Your logic is not accurate read well before commenting nonsense

Everybody were giving a flat rate of 20 pounds not naira and no one was left out as the government as at the time make sure everyone was giving the fund.

The wicked Nigeria government wanted to impoverish him and he used smartness to get every worth of his money.

Same way people open domiciliary accounts to hide their money from the somersaulting naira.

Awolowo Is the bigger thief! Imagine paying igbos 20 naira despite how much you had in ur bank account. He stole so much money & properties from ndigbo that he became so rich to build a skyscraper in yorubaland. But thank God he met justice and ndigbo has risen from the ashes like the phoenix
Re: GUO@75: How I Became A Millionaire At 21 by RealTalkNoBull: 10:48am On Jun 07, 2024
Was it 28 different accounts from just him alone, or 28 different accounts from different people? Also, Hong Kong and China were big destinations for Heroin back in the 70's.
Re: GUO@75: How I Became A Millionaire At 21 by Everlastingson:
Why is it that the majority of people on this forum misunderstood this story? I guess it's coz of hate- inspired parochialism. The man committed no crime. He tells you that the Nigerian govt said they'd pay 20 pounds( that is for those who had up to 20 pounds and above) to each Igbo man account owner in any bank irrespective of the millions you had in your account then. Those Igbo people who had no bank account were not involved at all. He then opened 28 different accounts, deposited money in all so as to spread his money as wide as possible. He had money in all the accounts. So when the govt started giving 20 pounds per account he was able to recover 560 pounds of his money. Otherwise he would have got only 20 pounds out the probably thousands of pounds he had in the banks. He committed no crime . It was part of his legitimate cash he recovered. Igbo men who didn't think as fast lost thousands and millions of pounds to the criminal Nigerian govt. Many of you here are so filled with hate against the Igbo that you don't even notice the wickedness of the Nigerian govt but are apt to twist the story to incriminate an innocent man. I'm sorry for all of you haters. You are killing yourselves.

Before the war, there were millions of igbo people in the civil service. In fact there was shortage of staff up north due to no education that igbos had to fill those areas so the northern Civil service could operate. Giving igbos only 20 naira means their salaries, pensions, gratuities and properties all over Nigeria were stolen. It was the theft that made people like awolowo and even Nigeria become rich. But look at the regions that stole the wealth, they are worse off than the igbo region. High poverty, out-of-school children, unemployment, high rare of beggars, low per capita income etc. You know why? Because thieves can never share their loot for the good of the people

Which law? So the law says the Government should steal depositors funds?
How old are you ? Why are you so wicked and hateful? So if you were in his shoes you'd let your hard earned money go like that? So for you it's okay what the Nigerian govt did? You're now blaming him for trying to recover his money? In any case is it against the law to operate multiple accounts? You're wicked. This is one reason you can never be better than the Igbo. Your hate and envy is congenital. Sorry.

This continued, and by the time the Nigerian government announced they would pay each person 20 pounds, I noticed that the bank officials were not properly counting the money people were bringing in. I realized they might just give a flat rate to everyone, so I worked with my brothers to open 28 different accounts and collected the 20 naira per account.

How much did he deposit and how much was given to him in return by the Nigerian government. You got to be wise not to lose completely.

this is the story of 50% average Igbo billionaires. We got to whr we are today as a people with little or no govt support.

No it's the story of almost every billionaire ever. There's always either a form of criminality or stroke of luck in their stories.

Yes we are where today with little or no help from the government and we're still rising higher.

That was not stealing. He anticipated the flat rate per account and acted to get as much of his money as possible. I am sure he still got less than he had in the accounts.

Your being emotional about this. He could have sought legal redress, he could have championed the cause of his clan, rather he choose to commit a crime to prove that the government was committing a crime.

It's just like say that ppl whose funds are trapped in Heritage bank are morally right to steal from other to recover their funds
What he did is nothing worth emulation

Does all this justify his decision to fraudulently obtain funds meant for others?

As a successful entrepreneur and a role model, that part of his story is nothing to be proud of.
