Na mumu dey behind that account, probably one of the vultures of babablu.

Maybe, government should make minimum wage to be 5,000 naira so that the Ebola farmer will sell his crate of egg for 200 naira.
He probably has staff to pay. If he doesn't increase the price of his wares, how do you expect him to pay his staff Genius?

Is it by force to eat eggs?
Here in the north, some northerners are using awara in place of meat and fish. I have eaten it and I can testify it makes sense.
..and you think the price of your awara will remain the same, joke

I dont understand.

Are you saying the bolded will cause inflation?
No, not necessarily. They will only ask for their own appropriate wage giving the circumstances and conditions they found themselves.

If the shop owner or Landlord increase his rent, the net effect will cascade down to the product they sell....

And that's just one example.

We are saying the same thing. Government should make minimum wage to be 5,000 naira so that prices of goods will reduce.

All it takes is someone willing to sell for 3k to put that fake "business man" out of business.

If no one can afford it, he would eat his own egg or the free market would determine the real price. He sounds like a joker and not a real business man. How much is a full grown goat that crate of egg would go for 10k?

As long as the farmer isn't going to eat the money raw, we are all good.
How can you guys be so naive. It is the norm; Every time the minimum wage is increased, there is always a corresponding increase in commodities and this time, it won't be different. Expect the price of goods to rise.

Its all about a government that cannot protect the right of the common man by saying he cannot control price

Increase the salary... Open the border let him either eat his eggs or sell it to his village people for 10k.. how much are they selling eggs in Togo. Open the border if they can't sell at reasonable price

The problem is inflation. There is too much money in the system chasing few goods and the increase in minimum wage is counter-productive because it will only drive the price higher. The CBN needs to mop up the excess liquidity.

But you know that the whole things is about the abuse of the right of the common man as the increment doesn't favour anyone apart from the producers and sellers who have no control of selling prices

Once there is demand for a direct substitute for a commodity. The price of that close substitute starts shooting up till it level up with the price of the main commodity. The price of that your Awara won't remain the same in the upcoming days.

That is instead an alarmist claim with no truth to it. The Minimum wage was not changed for more than 4 years -- 2019 -- 2023 --- in Nigeria yet prices did not remain stable in all of that period. Come 2024, the cost of living has more than quadrupled, yet minimum wage has remained untouched in all of this time. What do you say to that? undecided

Start by donating 1 million naira to CBN every week to mop up the excess. All these una copy and paste economic textbook statements is getting ridiculous.

Your insinuation is basically why he said he's going to sell at that price. The new minimum wage he stated will indirectly affect price of feed materials from farmers, from suppliers who will have to sell higher to raise their staffs salary. Hatcheries will likewise do the same. He may also have staffs that he's thinking about raising their pay. To be honest, it's actually going to affect the price of most agro commodities ONLY IF THERE'S GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. I own a farm also and I feel his pain.

Rubbish assertions! Inflation steadily rose in the same Nigeria over the period between 2019 and 2023 even with the minimum wage remaining stable over that entire period. Inflation has since ballooned from late 2023 to the second quarter of 2024. Na Minimum wage cause am?
