They should say 'allowances '. I don't think any governor gets more than 1million naira as monthly 'salary '

The important thing for the government at all levels to take care of is the price controls and regulations, as an increase in minimum wages will cause an increase in price of commodities. Minimum wages will not extend to non government workers but price controls and regulations will be beneficial to all I suggested and stand to be corrected

Those governors are crooks!!
NLC should embarked on immediate strike in any state where the governor refused to pay minimum wage and State Electricity grid should be grounded.

Everything comes from the same purse.

Its time to reduce legislators, Judiciary, politicians so that everyone gets a living wage.

Something must be done to change the era of rich getting richer and poor getting poorer.

If politicians can receive hardship allowance, why cant the workers?

Abeg enof of ds talks,,what of people that are not working? Their demand should be price control,,let d price of food come down abeg
So what stops people that are not working from protesting against price hike of goods and services, subsidy removal without building refinery, electricity tariff increament and arbitrary cost of living in Nigeria?

Must workers fight for everything for you?
Workers are not satisfied with ill-treatment of their members and they are fighting the government for a better welfare of their members and you are here blaming them instead of blaming government.

Shebi non-workers no get mouth or legs to protest and fight the government for their rights?

I just want to tell everyone who has a working brain that state government can easily afford N100k minimum wage and please stop saying they can't. Yahaya Bello is hiding in Kogi state government house female toilet over money that can easily pay kogii state civil servants N100k minimum wage for 8years .

Fortunately for them Nigerians are hard wired to blame the President for everything
It's president fault , if he has the power to remove fuel subsidy and float naira, then he has the power to tell governors to pay and he has the power to review and reduce their salaries and allowances

If the Minimum wage of at least N100k fails to be implemented, it's purely the doing of the Governor's and their self centeredness and barefaced greed.

Gov. Obiano was alleged by EFCC to have diverted and stolen SECURITY VOTE of over N4B for the last month he handover power to Prof. Soludo and changed it to dollars through a BDC.

Gov. Yahaya Bello was alleged to have stolen over N8B including transferring $760k to an American School as proceed of Crime.

Former Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State was alleged to have allocated N10B to a non-existent Airport.

Even our erstwhile respected Kaduna Gov. was alleged to have syphoned over a whooping N400B through uncompleted projects etc.

The most corrupt Public officers have proven to be Governors who shield themselves with the blame Game on the Presidency.

The Media & Civil Society groups should embark on the ScoreCard Model for Governors similar to what was done for PBAT during his 1st year anniversary.

The problem of Nigeria has been detected. It's the Legislature and Governors who can't sacrifice for their citizens by reducing cost of governance and allowances.

Simple !

62k cannot be the minimum wage, it can never be accepted. Above 100k or heaven will fall
▶ Any amount less than $64.5 or Naira 94,893.69 is extreme poverty and should not even be considered of worth.
▶ Any amount less than $68 or Naira 102000, which is the former minimum wage adjusted for the approximate 340% depreciation of Naira since February 2023, is pretty much not a raise but adjustment to match the old minimum wage. I suspect the recent increase of 300% for the Judiciary was such an adjustment made against the Naira depreciation level. So this Naira 120,000 or $68 point needs to be where Labor begins its negotiating for a raise.
▶ At the federal level though, anything less than N250,000 should be rejected by federal workers. Given the padding senior workers at the federal level freely give themselves, I see no reason why some of that extra padding should not work it's way down and across the board to other Federal workers.
What is a poverty line?
A poverty line, also called a poverty threshold, is a set amount of income below which it becomes difficult, if not impossible, for people to afford essentials like food and shelter. Each country determines its poverty line by calculating the cost of meeting minimum needs. Households with incomes below this line are considered to be living in poverty.
The international poverty line serves as a standard for measuring extreme global poverty and was recently adjusted to $2.15 a day to reflect the rising cost of necessities and adjust for inflation. Since 1990, it has increased from $1 to $2.15, reflecting the rising cost of living.

Nigerians should not gree Labor accept Naira 62,000, since all will eventually be impacted by the law down the road.

Ehen!!!

The argument don dey go where we expect am to go.

Governors and those in NASS should reduce their excesses to offset the difference.

My own is, even if I agree that 30k is too poor, and something should be done, they should jhus be very careful with the amount they're requesting in case it negatively affects the majority who don't depend on minimum wage.

Na Naija we dey, una sef know how these things dey end las las...

The argument is lame, can the governors entire salary n entitlements pay for workers salary and consequential adjustments? Even pension payments will ballon. The governors can only pay if they become innovative and create wealth, not relying on Federal allocation.

So many governors are not even paying the 30,000
including Alex Otti of Abia, how will they be able to pay 70k, do you think it's Tinubu fault Alex insist on paying 18k? Maybe Tinubu should first impeach all governors paying 18k

For your info, each states decide what they pay their governor, the fact you believe the president has power to review allowances and salaries of governors shows how naive and uninformed you are

But don't you really think any governor paying 18k right now should be assassinated
