Everybody knows this. She’s said nothing. The people who laugh at those who pray for a burning building to quench burst into prayers if somebody suffers a heart attack. The worst are those who pray for the economy to fix itself or Boko Haram to disappear.

This is why I don't take the average religious Nigerian seriously.

I have come to realize religion in Nigeria has become a cultural expectation with nothing to do with God.
I stopped helping individuals who carry religion for head hence they will assume it us their prayers that is working.

Well, if you are praying to have a close relationship with God and not necessarily that God should miraculously make you reach, then there is nothing wrong with that.

I don't base my prayer on material blessings but for God to be my guide and direct my ways to go trough this life according to his will and to grant me the grace to make it into his kingdom.

I pray for his provision and believe that with him, it is possible that he can help me meet my material needs which is not a sin nor a sign of laziness because I work and have people I am connected with, so I pray he blesses the work of my hands and also touch the heart of those more fortunate than I materially to give me a push, but those are never my focus prayer point. I focus more on God drawing me closer to himself.

The Bible says, put all your trust in the lord and depend not on your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.

So the bottom line is, focus your prayer on creating a good relationship with God and not wealth.

Even when God asked Solomon to make a request of him, Solomon did not ask for wealth nor the heads of his enemies which is the main request of most people today from God, God was very pleased with Solomon that he did not ask for those things and he blessed Solomon with wealth that up till this day, no one has been able to brake the record of king Solomon's wealth.
