I got the below Alert some days back, something I know nothing about. Could it be scammers at work?

I recently sold my android phone without wiping out my account details and apps. After that I got a notification of a new number being added to my google account. Evwn though I immediately changed my google account password, I am suspecting that's where the whole thing is coming from. I have also been receiving calls from unknown numbers lately.

I suspect that banks do it to motivate or persuade people to patronise the This is just a suspicion, don't take it as a fact.

It could also be that bankers make typographical error when keying in phone numbers from hardcopy forms filled for account creation.

No cause for alarm provided you haven't initiated any dealings with the bank

But try to be on the alert for further notification. Let it not be that someone is using your details to open account with them and thereafter get alone in your name. This country get as e be.

Fraudsters, they ve done this to me with gtb..when I later need a gt account, I went to the bank and the lazy customer service told me I can use the account only for me to fund it and it was debited immediately for web purchases, later learnt its a virtual account with minus on it

I have an idea. I will try to pay some money into the account and see if it is valid or not.

If you succeed in paying money into the account, you can't withdraw the money just like that. You must go through the stress of opening an account before you can withdraw any money you put in that account.

That's means the account was definitely opened by fraudsters. Funny thing is I know the guy I sold the phone to.

Try they format phone when its to be sold

This how issues like this are tackled

funny thing is I didn't type in my bvn into that phone. The phone I did that with is still with me and BVN is linked to phone number or SIM and not google account on phone.
Another possibility is he sees my SMS where I checked BVN on my current phone and it was backed up into Google account from where he can restore and see it.

Dude, just tell us you sold your bvn along with your phone that you sold without first wiping your information, and we'd all pray it doesn't cost you much and you've learnt your lesson.

I am very sure there was no bvn in the phone I sold.
