You're talking from the both sides of your mouth because there's enough food for you and your family. I think you too should accept that as your minimum wage too |

And why can't the Senator accept a pay cut as well? If labour goes below N250k, then they've betrayed the Nigerian workers |

I don't really understand why everybody is shouting 62k this and that. The 62k is for level 1 step 1, which in reality nobody is in that level because even olevel employees starts from level 4, and graduate employees starts from level 8. We should also remember that this minimum wage only affects less than 10% of Nigerian workers. Hence it will be unfair to the rest of Nigerians who will not benefit from the minimum wage if most of state resources are used just to pay salaries to only government workers. Who will pay those in private sector? What about the jobless? |

ijustdey:Those who want others to sacrifice and be patriotic have not done what they seek others to do since they started this administration. They have only proven as usual to show their contempt and resentment towards the common man. It would be with all pleasure that none of these sets of people from top to bottom be voted for in the next election. If by chance the economy even improves by 0.000000001% they do not need to be allowed to return to the positions they so occupy now. Let the votes count in all geographical zones. |

Any employers that can't pay the minimum monthly pay of 100k should employ his/her employees and pay by the hour... The minimum wage should be negotiated by minimum hour. ijustdey: |

dollar124:I don't understand the reasoning of all of us who speak in this manner.... We can't continue to say what or how will the private sector say for they can't afford it!!! The private sector is in different segments and they all know the methods they arrive at to pay their employees. We can't continue to bring up lame excuses and ideas as to why private sector can't pay !!!! I would be more happy if the government can put a template on that money they want to shove up the throats of the NLC and let's see it on a spreadsheet. Those who claim that civil servants don't work or not productive, can they say same for those who are proposing a poverty wage? |

SwissMass:I don't think it works that way. Goods and services have already increased in price. I think it's the same argument for private sector. They increased the prices of good and services but failed to increase the salaries of their workers along with it. Then when a new minimum wage comes in to compel them to do what they ought to have done when they initially increased prices of goods and services they talk about increasing prices. That's an elaborate scam. |

femicyrus:My issues is with NLC and TUC...we have about 60 million workers in Nigeria..out of which Federal Government workers are just 1.2 Million...State and Local government workers are less than 15 Million...the remaining are private organisations, and majority are small and medium enterprises.. including private schools, saloons, artisans, cooks, securities, drivers e.t.c.. If government agrees to pay NLC and TUC..who takes care of the other millions of workers? That's the big question. Immediately new wage is released, prices of goods and services will further go up ..how will these other workers cope ![]() That's my headache |
