Your question should be why do people have issues with accountability? I have met fraudulent men and women in equal measure.

Secondly, there is a gaping hole in this story. Lots of details are missing and its odd you can't see that. It makes no sense that two lovers in speaking terms would have a big fracas to the extent of throwing abuses and cancelling their engagement because of that question. There is a background to this you are not aware of.

Lastly, that she's not married does not mean she made a wrong decision by cancelling that engagement. Also, the man may have learned from that and moved on. I'm sick and tired of folks making a big deal of marriage and blackmailing people cos of it.

Yes, I'll still post it here for others to learn, so being my sister does not exonerate her from me posting about her ordeal, but however I can't allow my younger sister who is more morally trained to be this daft. she can't be too braindead to this level, this I can boast of.

the post was not to prove the genuine or ingenuity of my family either from whether maternal or paternal ancestry of the family is good or bad, it's for others to see and learn where necessary so as not to allow minor forgivable issues to cost them great feast in life or happiness.

My mom recently returned from the village and she began narrating to us the unfortunate event that occurred from my maternal home.

the second daughter of my mom's elder sister had a young man who has been in talk with her. eventually, the chemistry between them started leading in to the talks about marriage.

This potential suitor opened a store for my cousin and all was going good. later, an introduction was done and the both families got aquatinted with one another as in-laws to be.

Eventually, asoebi was launched and my cousins and other family members, friends and well wishers shared and distributed the asoebi. The wedding venue was chosen, the date for the wedding had been fixed and all necessary wedding arrangements were in place, we're all patiently waiting for the wedding day.

One day, the man went to the store which he established for my cousin and then saw some missing goods from the store which was maybe sold out but was never restocked. So, he politely asked my cousin about why the space for the goods was empty, my cousin suddenly went berserk, raged with furry and began insulting the man, calling him names and taunting him with no respect on why he's interested in why the goods was not restocked, she accused him of monitoring her and not giving her space, she also went further and accused the man that he'll be a pain in the ass for her in the marriage. her elder sister who was a baby mama joined the tantrum and joined the insult that was already being meted on the young man already by her younger sister. they kept calling him names and saying all manner of things and accusations that happened and never happened to the whole people.

Fast forward to sometimes later, they took the anger further and all went out to recover all the asoebi that was distributed, cancelled the wedding, stoped all wedding arrangements and ended everything. The man upon observing what was going began begging my cousin and pleaded with her to forgive him. he begged and begged her and to all the members of the family but he pleas fell on deaf ears.

After sometimes, the man cleaned himself and moved on. Time went by, the man later had another woman, married her, had a child and even built a beautiful duplex, painted it and furnished the whole structure. it was a beauty to behold.

My mom and cousin were going out one day and she pointed the house to my mom and my mom could not hold her amusement. My cousin confessed to my mom that she's been crying for a long time now and full of regret on the decision she took. Ever since that incident happened, no man has come over to seek for her hand in marriage, she said to my mom that this could have been her and the man but she allowed anger and lack off deep reasoning to becloud her sense of logic. she's been on full time regret ever since then.

With no taking side to anybody, I think I would say that the man was only being accountable of which any responsible man would, by asking why the goods was sold out and not restocked, anybody could ask you about why what they set up for you is not looking good for them. It's left for you to tell him calmly that in as much as those space had been empty, you're not eating the money or squandering it but only waiting for more sales so as to collectively order for more goods and stocks or give them whatever is your reason for the whole thing.

my mom was angry and mad at the whole family on why she was never briefed on the whole development but only telling her after the whole thing had ended. In my mom's words "Inever saw wisdom In all this".

But if i may ask, why do women have problem with accountability?

nigerian politicians have more problem with accountability than any women I've met.

we've faced our family a long time ago man....the elder sister had an altercation with my mom over a correction that was proffered to her as any responsible Aunty will do to have sister's child. but guess what? she went mad and started calling brimstone and all. my mom became too scared and had to apologies for the whole thing. it's a long story sir. it's pathetic..... their dad is gentleman and easy going man. their mom is late though for some years now.

If she accepted his plea, he would be a simp in that marriage. You don't beg when you didn't do anything wrong. Otherwise, you are rewarding bad behavior, and by nature, bad behavior rewarded will punish you later. The snake you feed will bite you.
