And it's Verizon branded

The phone seems to work fine with my MTN SiM
but the network connection switch is greyed out.

I can only use automatic at the moment. There's no option to switch to either 5G or 4G manually.

Is there a chance that it's verizon unlocked but it wasn't done properly?

No. It's a Verizon unlocked phone. Try downloading "5g Switch - Force 5G Only" from the Play store.
Once opened click your android type and select the network type. It may do the trick.

If you're totally sure that your phone is unlocked, download The U1 ROM for your phone and flash it.

Good afternoon I just brought a phone from US the mtn sim register on it but says no service and on the carton it says unlocked and wiped. Any solution please
