Nigeria Is Sinking: Doyin Okupe by Enemyofpeace(op): 1:54am On Jun 25, 2024
Doyin Okupe made an analogy on Arise TV that has stuck in my mind since I heard it.

It captures the disconnect between our rulers and the situation of the common Nigerian.

He said that the Titanic was a big ship with many floors. So luxurious at the top deck that the first class passengers could easily believe the story that it was unsinkable.

The lower decks were packed with lower class people that weren't even counted when planning for lifeboats.

And when the Titanic started sinking, water started filling up from under the ship. The lower decks where the lower class were.

While those in the lower floors were struggling and dying, those in the first class cabins on the higher floors had no idea that their end was nearby, they were making merry in the grand ballroom with champagne and fine dining, still living the lie that their ship was unsinkable.

As the ship tilted and made irregular movements, they looked around them at all the luxurious fittings and despite all the signs that they were in trouble, they just didn't get it.

By the time they realized the danger they were in, it was too late to save themselves.

Nigeria is sinking, those at the bottom know it, while those at the top think it's business as usual.

Doyin Okupe wouldn't have done anything different.

Buhari removed fuel subsidy before handing over to PBAT.. subsidy paymemt wasn't in the budget for 2023 when Tinubu came in. The sore losers blaming PBAT over subsidy removal, especially those Northerners going on TV programs are only playing petty politics. PBAT being the smart politician that he is decided to echo "No more subsidy" in his swearing in speech to send clear message to those who might want to lobby for subsidy to be reintoduced for their own selfish gains.

Soon Nigerians will appreciate PBAT when some of our refineries become fully functional and we won't have to rely on import of petroleum products again.

With PBAT's drive in infrastructure and accountability in the solid minerals sector, Nigerians will soon start rejoicing. Those who know the man's brilliance when he was Lagos State Governor are at peace knowing Nigeria is in capable hands.

How can a human being with functional brain believe Nigeria no longer pay subsidy on petrol?

How can?

You need a brain, tribalism and emilokan apologist has corrupted the one you have.

When tinubu announced subsidy removal on May 29/ 2023 was it buhari that instructed him to do so?
If subsidy was not in the buhari budget why didn't tinubu put it in his supplementary budget upon taking government?

You go about with foolish tells defending evil in the name of tribal protection, ti wa ni, omo wa ni, ti wan ti wa.

You are dying of hunger and starvation and yet praising your oppressors.

Thank God the north are closing ranks against tinubu. Post 2027 I will be there to hear you talk when another tribe takes over the government.

Pls, please, abeg pls. If you want to continue to deceive yourself, do not think that others are stupid.
Buhari did not budget for subsidy, you said, did Buhari budget for NASS suvs? Did Buhari budget for 5000 delegates to UAE? Did Buhari budget for N21b for vp house? Did Buhari budget for Coastal Road? Was coastal road even in any budget?
Talking of Lagos, it is clear some of you were either not born or were in Osogbo villages between 1999 to 2023. Tinubu did NOT rehabilitate any road he met. All he was doing was putting a signpost, "This is a FG road. Bear with us" Meanwhile, his agberos collecting money on the same road. As former federal capital almost 90% of the roads in Lagos were Federal Roads.
Daily armed robbery was witnessed on 3rd Mainland Bridge and Akpomgbo Bridge. In fact one lady banker lost an arm on the Akpongbo Bridge robbery. All under Bridge were inhabited by robbers and hoodlums. Oshodi was NO GO AREA. You cannot pass from Shell building to former NITEL on Marina because corpses on the Gen Hospital mortuary were decaying with terrible stench.
Lagos has no functional hospital, no buses, molue was the buses. Lagos was a sorry sight filled with dirt, from Ilupeju to Ojota, down to VI.
Just to mention a few.
You that crawled in from your hinter village now come to tell us that Tinubu transformed Lagos. Tinubu did not do shit in Lagos!

Those at the top know it and have brainwashed their illiterate followers that Nigeria is still solidly afloat. That's why some emptyheaded folks want amnesty in desert at a time debt is what is sustaining us. They think oil money is still there as usual and are trying to get a cut for themselves.

removing subsidy was inevitable going by our wasted loan profile but since it has been removed, have you seen any serious move from the Tinubu crowd to correct the ills bedeviling us?
Still wasting funds on all fronts. Doing flyover inmost state capitals when agric is in shambles and people are hungry. He thinks mega projects will confuse us. Never.

Agbado bastards will hustle for garri and if they're lucky, some groundnuts. After soaking it, they'll come online to abuse hell out of fellow Nigerians voicing out the same pains that they're facing due to a completely comatose economy meanwhile, they're never invited to the exclusive parties or the high tables where the billions and trillions of naira are shared. Their work is just to make noise and sow discord on social media. What a foòlish and disgraceful way to live ones life year in year out cool
Re: Nigeria Is Sinking: Doyin Okupe by brain54(m): 9:32am On Jun 25, 2024
I would like to draw another analogy from this...

As water slowly fills the lower decks where the poor and lower guys had hitherto been comfortable to obey the rules and occupy.

They will slowly but surely begin to climb to the upper decks. Breaking the rules, revolting against authority and norms which wasn't a problem for them to obey previously.

This revolt or revolution will eventually get them to the same level where the elites have been thinking they were untouchable. Thereby destroying the status quo and placing everyone on the same level.

If the ship eventually sinks then it brings all those who survive to start afresh from the same level with almost equal opportunity!

Man why do you keep defending nonsense? It still what the analogy is saying. Keep on driving infrastructure until you and the infrastructure will sink into the bottom, nonsense.

One really does not need IMF to tell one anything. According to @mrvitalis, one only needs a functional brain to be able figure it out. Diesel Price is one indicator, while Exchange Rate is another.

Do not expect Dangote to sell one litter of PMS to the Nigerian market, until the price reflects market reality. My suspicion is that Tinubu will finally hands off the subsidy regime once the new minimum wage kicks in - hoping that the new MW will reduce the backlash of the new petrol price.
