Hello guys, I need help. Let it not be that my mechanic wants to scam me. This morning I engage my car reverse gear for my boy to wash my car. After cleaning I decided to go out. After matching the gas pedal to floor level I realised it seized. Not this isn't the first time I'm warming my car above 6000 RPM.
So it seized all of a sudden and doesn't go above 2000 RPM. I decided to engage reverse gear. It didn't engage. My other gears are working. Only the reverse gear. My mechanic came and took it away only to call me that there's a damage to the gear box and to fix it will cost 580k. But if I'll buy another one it'll cost me 2M for Belgium and 1.2 for accidented car.
Please who has experienced this and what's the way forward. My Car is a 2011 Toyota Camry Sport.

NB: also about 5-6 days prior to that incident, my car has been showing (MAINTENANCE REQUIRED) on the dashboard. Could this be the cause? Please help me

Good evening elders in the house, I drive a tuketuke Volkswagen golf 4 2002 model for like a month now I notice my break vibrate (pulsation) when I apply it.i scanned the vehicle and no error code .my kazeem said I should change the rotor disk and break pad which I did and same thing still occur after I change all those , finally my kazeem also suggest I change the abs pump module and I did same story . please I need help

You didn't sound like you knew you messed up. You sounded like you knew what you were doing because "this is not your first time of doing it".
Anyways, your current problem has little or nothing to do with reving your car like a diesel engine. But take it from me, the problem from reving your car is not far down the line. When you are done with the gearbox problem, just keep another couple of millions on ground cos you will soon need to change your engine.

You only needed transmission fluid change. At least that's for the reverse not working. Your fluid must have been very low, contaminated or both. And certainly, your car was in limp mode hence the limited rev.

That mechanic is a fraudster if no codes were thrown because in my own camry, it didn't throw any codes as of yet, just some gear slippage and no reverse. Like I said, just fluid change because mine was too little in the pan and also black.

What the clown should have done first was replace the fluid and confirm if the one removed was burnt or had particles.

Get soldiers to bundle that fraud if you didn't ask him to dismantle your transmission. He's probably also showing you image of another transmission if he didn't show you under the hood.

To your last question, the 'Maint Reqd' light just indicates that your car is due for servicing. Doesn't matter if you have recently changed your engine oil as it comes on about 5,000 miles after it was last reset and flash 8 times after you start the engine just as a reminder.

Engine not revving past 2000rpm is an easy fix na. There is what they call a knock sensor 1 and 2. Either of them are bad,so your car enter limp mode to protect further damage.no let anyone tell u say na abs,or gear. Na knock speed sensor. Check them out

Just kiss that gear goodbye,my previous car the quack mechanic did not connect my gear cooler hose back to radiator line well,naso all my gear oil dry out.i reach Asus.go sleep.following day make I reverse,na war.las las I called Mt bro who called another quack.instead of the quack to check wella,he say fibre don burn.dem loose gear ,change fibre,couple am back. Naso I drive am ,gear oil dry out again.i was so mad ,I almost put up a fight with him.by then it was too late,my gear that selects without a forced clutch pressure,was now doing that everytime .I asked the idiot,he said it will settle .omo I say,if too say I sabi car then,na hose wey I fit disconnect ,connect am back .lai lai the thief scammed me.naso the gear begin leak oil till tmrw,not from radiator cooler lines but from the middle,the seal and the clutch was not aligned properly,hence that gbim sound once u switch from drive to park or reverse.sold the car for 2m at a loss.tho gear selected fine and worked well,but that gbim gbim force like say person hit u from back,car go vibrate hard when changing gear. Once naija mechanic loose your gear..forget.

Does this happen at a certain speed or at all speeds?

You may want to do wheel alignment and balancing. If you have truly changed your disc to new one and it's still happening.

I should get a new 1 for 2.5M later followed the fool to the market and priced at 1.850K

Upon advice I decided to work it 600K few days before I went to Camp ; then my oil leaked troway I bought transmission oil 18K & then I bought another oil 80k


I parked the car at home - cuz I traveled - I’m planning to tackle the mechanic once I get back ❗️❗️
