Why Is Kdp No Longer As Lucrative by AuthorMan(op): 10:34pm On Jul 04, 2024
Guys, I hardly sell on Kdp these days.
What I want to know is, is it only me?

Last month I made only $5:58. There were months I made nothing or less than 5$. Yesterday I made $1:36.
Is there anyone who make huge amount that can can give me a clue on how to go about same. Thanks

Go into video contents creation and publishing. The world is becoming faster, time shorter and thinner so people are substituting reading with video streaming

But I believe there are still die-hard book readers. If you join Facebook Author groups you will see those Oyinbos making above $1k a month.
I think the market favors white authors.

I don't want to go too deep not to waste my energy. It is Nigerian to only look at results whereas life should not be viewed from less than five to ten angles

Cost per keyword search
Extreme marketing
Other medias to advertise their books

Which do you heavily invest in ?

if you want to make money don't use Nigerian name, use a pen name (foreign name) it's legal. But if you want to be known, keep using your name

Another way to make money from Kdp is to start up a brand publishing kids books. And next, run ads on your books. Make sure it's of a good quality, I mean the content and formatting

Some Nigerians write rubbish as books thereby making it clear they're writing for money, not to impart information, or intrigue passion. Can't even compete with these western texts. No dey write with una archaic English grammar, and numerous tautologies that makes reading a chore. Not insinuating you are a bad writer, just addressing these mediocre writers.

I understand.
How many Nigerian writers give their books to professional editors. Can many of us afford it? Some charge as high as $1k upwards. Change that to naira and see how much you are using to edit just a book.
Many factors bro.

Although, I dont like exchanging views with an Evil spirit. Talk less a classic one.
Lol

This is very true. I write fiction, and apart from my own real name, I use pen names too. I sell more books written in my American pen name, than books in my own name. But it is still the same me o. lol.

Fact. I do both. Even though I love money, it gives me joy when I see my books with my real name selling. I might not sell any copies for months, but one day, one person will just buy like 4-5 of my books in a day.

The major problem is that Amazon kdp is not taylored for African Authors. There is an author marketplace coming up that will onboard African works, and showcase them to a global audience who can afford to pay for their books.

Thats the world for you. People love deceit. I just want to build my account to the point of making 500dolls a month. If I can do that its okay for me.

I use both my name and pen names too. But there is a kind of joy knowing books with your real names written on them are being bought by someone somewhere at the other end of the world.
It gives me greater joy.
