justwise:again not true. People are leaving not cos they can't get abortions in even the Cray Cray Alabama for lack of facilities to get it done, provided they are the listed aforementioned exceptional cases. They are leaving to other states cos they don't fit the said exceptional cases. Two very different things. |

Hello, everyone. I want to ask NLers in the UK what it's like living and working in Bedford. The cost of living, quality of life, healthcare, education, housing, crime rate, the reception of community members to foreigners and the likes. I read it's a "market town". Please, what does this mean? Are things relatively cheaper there? Are there African stores in the area? I also read it is predominantly a white community. How true is this, please? I would appreciate any other detail/information about the place. Thanks. |

Zahra29:Who is advocating for this? Roe v wade never did. That would be murder. |

Zahra29:in addition, even on the issue of rape, this isn't 1792. Even in Nigeria as backward as it is, after a rape is committed, there are medicaments that the victim can take 24-72 hrs after intercourse to prevent conception. As a bad boy back in the day, my babes used am wella on the few times that we slipped up...there was postinor 2 to the rescue. If the tin don hook sef, the one wey go do the do even up to 2weeks post-coitus sef dey. So expectedly, common sense dictates that there will be a wider variety/spectrum of options in the 'abroad', to prevent conception after an unfortunate rape incident. So talking like a full abortion with all the bells and whistles is the ONLY available solution option following a rape is obviously blatantly mischievous and utterly ridiculous. Even HIV sef get PEP regimen wey you fit use hours after exposure. And yes, they administer all this medications as standard preventive measures after a rape (I mean including PEP) cos you don't know what medical conditions the assailant/rapist had. Now in the instances where conception still happens despite all odds (and yes that can happen on rare occasions), there is the abortion option as a last resort, which should be easy to prove cos there will be records and documentation to that effect. Abortion in this day and age is not a first resort option or response to rape. Painting it as though it is, is very infantile🤣 |

[quote author=Treadway The one wey go do the do even up to 2weeks post-coitus sef dey. .[/quote]Apropos of nothing,I don't think this is correct. An embryo is already safely ensconced in the womb . No emergency contraception can get at it at 2weeks GA. Medical and surgical Terminations will be effective . Just correcting the record. You never know who might be reading. Emergency contraception should be on board within 72 hrs to stand the best chance. |

missjekyll:dey play This one no be Google, although e dey Google sha. I'm telling you facts. Up to 2weeks post coitus, e go activate menstruation up to 80% of the time.. and out comes the lining and everything on the lining. Yes, per the use of emergency contraceptives eg postinor 2, I already said up to 72hrs is the best. Infact to be quaint, up to 48hrs is best, by 72hrs success rates already down to 50%. But make no mistake, menstruation can be kick-started by other medication up to 2weeks post coitus with a 80% success rate. If you Google it, it will show you the medication. Not advocating for this, I'm just sharing information due to this convo ni o, based on even personal experience not Google or hearsay. Just trying to show that so much can be done that doesn't include abortion after a rape |

missjekyll:I didn't call it emergency contraception. Let's stay on point. I said there are medications that you can use up to 2wks post-coitus with as little risk as using postinor 2. I didn't say it was an emergency contraceptive like postinor 2. I also only stated this to show there are medications and options that can be used even up to two weeks, and that for that reason abortion isn't a first line response or defence to rape, but rather last line. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Treadway: 3:55pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
missjekyll:I just saw the bolded. Yes, that is correct. Again, I did not call it emergency contraception anywhere in my posts. I wrote out the name of the emergency contraceptive Postinor 2 just to be clear I was talking about different levels/tiers |

Nawa o, I just noticed about £800 left my monzo account overnight, all to Meta Pay/oculus... Thank God I didn't have much funds in that account!!! Multiples of $100 converted to £78. I've logged with Monzo though, but suggestions/experiences here would be welcome. @Lexus hope you've not traveled ![]() |

missjekyll:With the right intervention, a baby is able and proven to survive at 22 weeks. There is at least one case of a baby who survived when she was born prematurely at 21 weeks. In the UK and in several US states, abortion is legal until and through 24 weeks, even of perfectly healthy babies. In fact, looking at Wikipedia, I've just seen that in some US states abortion is legal at any stage. If a healthy baby is aborted at 24 weeks when it had a very good chance of survival outside the womb, then this would be murder as you've called it and there are a lot of women (Christian or otherwise)who think this is wrong and would vote in favour of stricter abortion laws. |
