lipsrsealed No sand Nigerian will hate the supreme court judgement on the local government autonomy.......... That's one thing I know for sure.
There was no judgement and there was no autonomy discussed in all of it. Na useless big grammar dem use confuse the masses here. All the court did was reassert the constitution which has always held that the accounts in question belonged to the LG and not the Governors or even the Federal. undecided

To everybody that contributed to this landmark ruling, I say thank you.
A Landmark ruling on an issue that should not have been an issue to begin with? I mean the constitution is clear on the fact that the accounts in question were to be accessed at the LG level. lipsrsealed

Thanks for your advocacy but remember Buhari snubbed your advocacy for years but Tinubu even before the election have be saying he will return everything back to Local Govt and under his watch it was done.

As you did well for the advocacy you should appreciate the president for not being defiant like Buhari orelse your advocacy will still ends in bin, okwa ya?

Joke of a country.

The so-called autonomy is as useless as the P in psychology.

The useless chairmen will still have to seek the consent of their govs who will request for 90% of the allocation.
My bruh Don't be always be negative. Okay?

Welcome to Nigeria! That is in fact what has been happening all of this while. The zombie people stand back and watch their governors humiliate and pillage their accounts, and they do nothing about it. This so-called ruling was merely a reassertion of the Constitution. It is up to the people to decide whether they will allow their elected officials to continue with business as usual or not. undecided

It will be different. Any mumu chairman who sign off his local govt allocation to the governor will explain to EFCC how the gov put gun to his head.

Re: Why I Started Advocating For Local Government Autonomy By Sam Onuigbo by gtown: 6:26pm On Jul 12, 2024
Local government autonomy is half achieved. The state independent electoral commission must be proscribed so that the independent national electoral commission assumes the conduct of election into electoral positions at the local level too. If this is done, then we can say the local governments are autonomous and third-tier governments in Nigeria.

Don't be deceived. The Supreme Court said the same thing during the last administration, and all it did was reassert the Constitution which clearly states that the account belongs to the LGs and not the Government. The distribution of the money to the various LGs are determined by decisions at the National and State assemblies. The Governors are not meant to access the account or even have a say in how it should be distributed. undecided

James Ibori and every other Governor who dipped their hands into the Local Government account stole money that they had no authorization whatsoever to touch and that is a crime against the people. It shouldn't be the president suing the governors but the electorates. undecided
