Thats wonderful. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and its is not something we can immitate or force from our mouth. Not everyone speaks in tongue, i have never experienced it. And its not something one can attempt to do, it comes from the Holy Spirit not the individual. |

David0002:Personally I prefer praying by the written word of GOD in the bible to praying in tongues. Although I do short bursts of tongues when I pray, I always keep the bursts short because I don't understand what I am saying. Praying by logos affords me the opportunity to pray with understanding of what I am telling GOD. |

On the day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2:4-12, the disciples spoke in tongues, which were languages they had not previously known. This miraculous event occurred after the Holy Spirit descended upon them in the form of flames and a mighty wind. The disciples began to speak in other languages, proclaiming God's wonders and praises to people from various nations and languages who were gathered in Jerusalem. This allowed everyone to hear the message of God's greatness in their own language, despite their cultural and linguistic differences. Some of the languages spoken that day likely included: 1. Parthian (spoken in modern-day Iran) 2. Median (spoken in ancient Media, now part of Iran) 3. Elamite (spoken in ancient Elam, now part of Iran) 4. Mesopotamian languages (such as Aramaic and Akkadian, spoken in ancient Mesopotamia, now Iraq and parts of Syria, Turkey, and Iran) 5. Judean (the language of the Jews, likely a dialect of Hebrew or Aramaic) 6. Cappadocian (spoken in ancient Cappadocia, now part of Turkey) 7. Pontic (spoken in ancient Pontus, now part of Turkey) 8. Asian languages (spoken in ancient Asia Minor, now part of Turkey) 9. Phrygian (spoken in ancient Phrygia, now part of Turkey) 10. Greek (widely spoken in the Mediterranean region) This miraculous event enabled the disciples to communicate the Gospel message to people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, marking the beginning of the Christian church's expansion beyond Jerusalem. Understand the reason why they speak in tongue, not to pray to God but to communicate to people of different languages about Christianity. Stop following naija pastors, let the creator of the universe lead you. |

David0002:Stop being fooooolish, pls. I'm a Christian but not that mind controlled nonsense tagged "born again " Get your facts right always and try to read the Bible and other manuscripts, including the Koran....you'll always be prepared to answer questions intelligently, not always critizing other religions. If you take time to explain your doctrine and beliefs to other folks, they might have an admiration for your religion.... Not all moslems are terrorists....not all Christians are worth living with!

David0002:But it was recorded in Act 2:6 that those from other people from other parts of the world were able to understand them Act 2: 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken Now my question to you Can anyone else understand the tongue you spoke? |

Dtruthspeaker: Ble means something ooo....Google it..U have not met everyone..and there are many undocumented and unpopular languages in the world.. My funny get valid point is...there is no need invalidating someone's tongues as fake or rubbish because we can't audit or compare it to a popular language we know..For example.... "Bli" which can sound like gibberish to u ...also means to be come, to get, or to grow in Norwegian |

Ceasarceasar:@Leemzyy, Ceasarceasar Hahaa, these 2 people sha. Just dey make person laff. We the irunmoles just dey enjoy una 2 dey fight for middle east religion. But Leemzy, the guy is right. You guys are very sneaky in your hatred for Jesus, always pretending by saying he's also a prophet of allah, bla bla bla. But there's that hidden hate you guys try to cover. For d xtians though, at least they are more open to their rejection and sometimes hate towards mohammed. My own point is: you two blacks, didn't you have your own religion before these 2 sets of invaders set foot on our soil? There is absolutely no guarantee that this foreign belief u guys have will grant you any salvation. And the way the arabs and the europeans treated our ancestors and your kith and kin today is enough for you to know they can't give you something so good. There are underground bunkers in USA and Canada in the event of a nuclear bomb. Have they shown you guys there? No, but they show you the way to heaven and you guys believe that? Are u people sure una deh think straight so? |

OP, the tongues the disciples of Jesus spoke on the Pentecost day is different from what modern Christians speak. The disciples spoke intelligible languages and not the gibberish modern Christians speak.and that's why people from different countries heard them speaking in their languages and gave heed to hear the message from the disciples as we saw in the book of Acts chapter 2 from verses 1 to 14. As Jesus went to heaven he gave his disciples spirit gifts so as to advance the Gospel message to every nation. How would his disciples who were Galileans be able to preach to people who they never understood their languages about the good news? It would be impossible. That's why he gave them the. speaking in foreign languages gift. Modern Christians mistook this gift for the meaningless ehbababa they utter when praying. |
