Honestly! You're so right!

I would love to use interlocking bricks for some portion andplant on the rest. I would definitely love oranges, mangoes, apples, vegetables, etc.

It is the wisest thing to do but must be kept away from the foundation or fences. Then we should be ready to constantly clean up leaves and keep the weeds off to fend off rodents and snakes. Otherwise, it is not only wise for the belly but good for the air and general wellbeing. May God help us.

This is my dream. No matter how beautiful my house is, the back will solely be reserved for agricultural activities. It's baseless having a large compound only for one to floor it over with cement.

Little space at the front for parking, the building follows and everything left is for agric.

Even ordinary bitter leaf vegetable, some people don't have in their compound, they either buy, or beg nearby houses that have, this is very shameful, there are some agricultural produce that should be a must-have in every home, kudos op.

I don't think it's all about social media copy. Not everybody love agriculture in their compound. Some like me, love our compound cemented. Looking clean. We can get another place for farming if we want.

If the residential compound is very spacious and I wish to cultivate anything, I will fence the main compound out of the farming area
Re: Don't CEMENT All Your Compound: by copyrites: 10:34pm On Jul 14, 2024
Farming is only productive and meaningful when done on a large scale.

A million micro gardens won't solve the food crisis in the nation. You would even find yourself spending more money and wasting economic hours on your garden. This is the same way you people deceive Nigerians and push them into micro poultry and cat fish business. Till date, I'm yet to see a micro poultry owner who is not counting massive losses. Every single person I know has failed.

Why do you have to labour all year round just to eat a few corn 🌽 when a single day job can get you the money you need to buy a full bag of corn?

Look, Western nations are not stupid. A single farmer in Australia can feed 10 Nigerian states. That's how farming works in the developed societies.

Until Nigerians stop seeing farming as a poverty alleviating scheme or something that require petty senseless manual labour, nothing will change. Let us treat farming the way we address the oil sector or cement industry and wait for a massive transformation. We don't need 100,000 Lagos residents to plant corn on their 2 by 2 overcrowded space. All that is needed is a man like Dangote to buy up the entire Sambisa!

This. This is very true. Plants are good for your body and oxygen we breathe, this is basic done in school. It is surprising that people who went to school don't understand this simple logic to life. They even buy artificial plants and flowers to decorate their homes sad

In the city, people complain about the heat when everything is now machine and only pollution is what we are giving the environment. City people are living in a factory, they have no one to tell them. If they planted trees, they will have natural air that will wade off the heat a bit, provide cover and help with flooding. How are people going backwards and they say we are progessinghuh

In the old days, the way to know a big man is a house that had gardens. Today, na so so cement. Things can not always remain like the past but I think Nigerians have a bad habit of following trends without thinking about the long term and future. Now, people are building houses with wood like they do in cold weather but no one wants a mud house. You think people that survived 100 of years are dumb huh grin grin grin Nigerians like to copy what does not belong to them instead of taking time to study what is good for them or why things are the way they are. We are so in love with what is outside than what is inside.

Re: Don't CEMENT All Your Compound: by papyjaypaul: 11:54pm On Jul 14, 2024
Talking about poor man and rich man, with the way the world is going these days, it will be foolish of you not to have something that grows. You don't need to turn your house to a farmland because that also comes with issues. Imagine if everyone had different things, man A will have monkeys coming to his banana farm, man B will have pythons trying to eat your eggs. How can we not know how to grow foodhuh Everything is import import import. Who are the people you are importing fromhuh

The most foolish thing in this world is to leave your source of diet in the hands of the foreigner. They will kill you sad shocked

See what is happening. First they take your seeds away and give you the GMO seeds. Unfortunately, we have corrupt politicians who only think of their belly when money flashes.
When the effect of their modified seeds are ripe, na your body go hear all the cancer. Where are the leaves and plants to help youhuh You cemented all of them away. They have removed all the local solutions and imported problems to you. Food is a national security item that should be taken seriously. A Country can use food (famine) to wipe all of you. Without food, you can't even be here reading this.

I also define "Wealth" As Immaterialistic Happiness.

Okay, Thanks For This.

I'll surely be making use of Organic Fertilizer On My Farm Before Planting.

It was some of my nursery operations that got hindered because of the critical weather condition earlier this year.
