If your friend didn't know he should be accompanied by someone that has at least 3yrs on a DL, then he isn't quite ready for the test.

There isn't any other plea than 'guilty'. He should beg for his majesty's leniency.

Actually, you could ask your trust to get you a driver or two to be driving you to work, pending when your trust-sponsored driving test booking happens.
