The annual policy meeting is held to authorise the commencement of admission into tertiary institutions in the country and adopt certain admission benchmarks.

The meeting is chaired by the Education Minister, Professor Tahir Mamman

No more admissions into universities and other tertiary institutions for under 18 candidates - Education Minister said at the 2024 JAMB policy meeting.
New curriculum for secondary schools to be unveiled September
No MORE REGULARIZATION
Don’t take admission outside CAPS
You will be on your own - Prof. Oloyede
Deborah Tolu-Kolawole

The Ministry of Education is working hard to introduce a new curriculum for both primary and secondary schools, starting with secondary schools.

The curriculum will include skills acquisition, that can help secondary schools graduates be employed immediately after secondary schools.

The plan is to start its implementation from Sept 2024
HM Education: Prof Tahir Mamman.
JAMB had in 2017 introduced the Central Admissions Processing System where all tertiary institutions upload the admission status of candidates offered admission in the institutions.

CAPS has centralised and automated admission processes between candidates and their chosen tertiary institutions.

Generally, how many footballers have the privilege to rep their Senior team in any Major comp at 18, even Messi wasnt called up till 2006 and he wasnt under-18 then

Good Call by Jamb cheesy

Can you imagine what's our priority, not bringing up the standard of education, but making sure that those under the age of 18 doesn't gain admission

The Minister’s sons and daughters and grandchildren (all abroad) are getting their university degree before they are 18 years.

The minister is not focused on making our universities competitive or improving the output from our universities.

What is the problem exactly with having 16 year old get admission? Their counterparts in other countries do. You even find a 16 year old having a more robust frame of mind and strength of will than those older.

Parents would now send their children to study in South Africa and Ghana.

Very foolish......at a time when other countries are producing engineers at 18 and PhD holders with ground-breaking research at 20.

Instead of focusing on the quality of the education and overhauling the very rubbish curriculum we use in producing half-baked graduates, you are pegging age of entry.

This is what you get when you make an aboki Minister of Education.

I think it’s okay

If you graduate from high school at 16

Then the next 3years should be for learning skills or digital skills before your age finally qualify you to seek admission

As a Computer scientist if I was introduced to digital Skills at my early age… by now me and Mark Zuckerberg would hav been working closely together..

Don’t let ur kids make same mistake

Anything to distract us from hardships. Maybe the gods should be the ones admitted into schools since the are very old.

Even though I don't have hope in this government but can't fault this.

Stop rushing children into adulthood, it's irresponsible

In the so called saner climes, what is the age benchmark for University entry?

Now the govt must make sure no more strike and 4 years = 4 years.

that's how it should be. Back in those days, 18yrs was the right age. You leave secondary school at 17yrs, primary school at 11yrs and nursery school at 6yrs

Then add additional 2 yrs to secondary sch..... Ss4 and ss5.. It should be purely vocational learning......I finished secondary sch at the age of 15 going 16....i didn't jump a single class.. And I gained admission into uni d same Yr....
Re: No More Admissions Into Higher Institutions For Persons Below 18 Years - FG by blowjohn(m): 11:50am On Jul 18, 2024
I finished secondary school school at 16.
My brain still hot and sharp.

So what will a human being be doing between that she and 18?

Do they understand the theory of use and disuse?

Do they know that we are still a drug epidemic?

That youths can become lazy as quick as a fox?

Ah!
