But in the course of talking to one of my distinguished sisters, that she should speak whenever she is recognised I made reference to the fact that we are not in a nightclub where people have to shout above the noise of the music and the social media went agog.

I am not on social media but my wife called me that people got angry and published her number and said they should occupy her line so she used to receive over 2000 to 3000 phone calls a day. And I tried to put on one of my phones, the number was in the public and you find out the phone crashed after about three hours.

So, I am very happy with the interest generated by Nigerians with what goes on in this chamber because we are here to cater for their interests. For them to be interested with what goes on here, means that we are connecting with the people directly and it will have been terrible if we are doing all this work and the people are not even aware of what we are doing.

But the communication was totally misunderstood instead of taking it for the nature of what we said that you should not shout when you are talking and speak only when you are recognized, they went into private abuses. I don't want to say what they did to me, I think I do not merit it. I was telling the DSP that he is the one they should be talking to because in my tradition we marry only one wife so they listed so many wives on social media.

I don't know how you took it but I feel I should tender a public apology to you.

The holy book says "Out of abundance of the mind, the mouth speaks". Meaning a wise man does not speak all that is in his heart. Only wise people speak little but act more. I will enroll this man in the leadership training school i attended.

His apology is commendable. Government officials, particularly those in high-ranking positions, must learn to speak carefully and thoughtfully. Their words are invariably scrutinized and interpreted in various ways. I believe a comprehensive training on effective communication and public speaking should be a core component of any induction program for newly elected or appointed government officials. This training would better prepare them for the public-facing aspects of their roles and the responsibilities that come with their positions.

He was his people's favorite because of his performance in infrastructure development and generosity and not the loosed mouth.

I'm not a fan of Akpabio but he is a shrewd politician, you can see that in his apology and also given his idiosyncrasies, i don't expect him to be a Chuba Okadigbo..to be finesse.
