The police Act 2020 have already pegged the tenure of IGP at 4 years, what Tinubu is trying to do is that, if you got appointed as IGP today but you have only 2 years left for retirement, he wants the House to amend the Act so that you can complete your 4 years as IGP

The act says the IGP will have a tenure of 4 years, you appoint someone that has less than 4 years because of certain interests, now you come back to change the law to fit the interests and you think is a wise thing. Buhari did they same and we abused him for it, now the same thing is happening in a sophisticated manner

Dem don already turn the Constitution to toilet Paper with their many amendments. In all honesty, after these people are removed, all laws enacted, in the last 25 years need to be repealed and the Constitution sanitized. As a matter of fact, a Constitution that is instead backed by the people is instead needed.

Give it to Tinubu. He seems to be more interested in institutional reformation and is making giant strides in that area. Many things have been achieved in changing certain things that hitherto have been stumbling blocks for progress.

I don't get it. What if the person reaches retirement age? He should be allowed to overstay? What if he is not performing as expected? We may have to amend that of other security forces as well. It is bad to amend the constitution or Act because of one person. It is akin to nepotism.

What would improve the system is if the next most senior officer is always appointed, free from any political influence. When your time is up, leave for next person. Then the person can do his job without fear or favour.
