How Nigerians Sabotaged August Nationwide Protest by Bebigiby1(op): 6:10pm On Aug 01, 2024
I was at the protest venue earlier today to join Nigerians in solidarity protesting against bad governance. Even though I knew that the government will not listen to Nigerians and will try to hijack the protest…. I decided to participate to support and make a stand against injustice. What I saw at the protest venue made me leave the protest. It was disheartening seeing government sponsored Nigerians mobilize against those protesting, I had sensed that the protest will be violent as these groups of sponsored pro-government protesters were out for mayhem…. I am yet to come to terms with mindset of some Nigerians sabotaging this peaceful protest even when it is done to force government to reverse terrible economic policies that they are facing…. As it stands this protest movement has been hijacked and won’t be peaceful anymore….I see many Igbo people laughing and mocking others for protesting even when current situation is affecting everyone….. It is sad but the truth is that many Nigerians are too selfish to allow this country to progress……. Nigerians are not ready for genuine progress…. The people will continue to suffer until we all learn to put aside our selfish tribalistic ways…..

It's a chess game.
During end sars protest in October that year, the protest was more intense in the south than north. In fact many northern believed that it was a ploy to remove abs topple buhari from power.
Now the table has turned. That's why the protest is more intense in the north and many southern states stayed off

Nigeria is not into sessions. Its not owned by any session or tribe I believed in the protest untill i discovered some elements in the north feels that they can do and undo as they like in this country
They feel sooo entitled to like Nigeria leadership is their birth right.
Same tool they used against jonathan. If not for the unwise decisions of buhari we wont be here today. Buhari mismanagement our common wealth pumping money to the north.

That means the protest now and then have ethnic and political undertones?

You cannot force a people to love a country they don't love. This isn't about desiring to participate in a protest; it's about love for country. Nobody pays you to kill your mother and you collect the money and kill her. That's because you love her.

What we will continue to see is people undermining national interests for personal interests because they don't love this country. Nobody genuinely loves Nigeria.

I just hope we don't waste more time in this contraption just to make a point that Nigeria deserves to be one because there's no basis for 220 million people to be tied to a country they don't love.

That means the protest now and then have political tones?
There are many things the led to this protest, hunger, politics and many more. I am not saying the opposition party are behind the protest.
The protest is louder in the North than South.

I just saw a video where 4 police men were kiIIed in their vehicle and someone was saying the police officers just drove past them o.
I guess it was the govt that did that, when u are joining a directionless movement with a different mindset hiding behind another mindset, you don't know what's coming.

I left because the protest was hijacked to unleash violence…. How do you explain what happened today…. Many Nigerians collected bribe to stage counter no protest protest against protesters….

And some of the politicians who pretend to support the protest still sent hoodIums within the protesters to unIease mayhem, this protest is a political game, most protests in Nigeria is a political game played by politicians on the chess board, the masses are the pawn but they never learn and will never learn.
