It occurred to me, in my moments of contemplation, that with the level of dependence on foreign import, and the exchange rates; it would be suicidal to totally remove subsidy. I believe what they did actually was reduce subsidy; that's compared to what they used to pay before. Total removal would probably mean we could be paying #5000/litre for petrol. So, in truth, protesters are asking government to increase the amount paid for subsidy.

Your analysis is top notch! I might be wrong. But what's happening with Tinubu will also have happened with Atiku and Obi if they were presidents. Removing fuel subsiding can never be good; except if you introduce transport subsidy, food subsidy etc to cushion the effect. Remedying subsidy removal with subsidy reintroduction. Any solution could be fixing our refineries; but that would also take time and will power. Farooq Kperogi, the sage, advised that the wise thing for any government to do is to go after the corrupt oil magnates rather removing aids for the ordinary people.

Soldiers don carry dis one for personal use.
