Zahra29:Really mixed messages, I attended a seminar yesterday on working wellbeing and the speaker presented a data that shows that sick leave cost the UK about 3million hours per month, honestly sometimes you don’t know what to believe. |

justwise:💯 Most places of work would rather you stay home if you have a cough, cold, viral symptoms etc as not only will it take you longer to recover and further impact your productivity, but it can affect others also - at work, on public transport etc. They don't give a Superman badge for showing up sick to work and coughing over everybody 😷lol |

Thank you for your kind response always. I am actually asking about people on the old Healthcare visa rule whose sponsors do not have work for since they entered the country for some months now. Some were lucky to get the supplementary 20 hours a week from other agencies but nothing from their main sponsors. We are hoping that the present government will look into this. Zahra29: |

missjekyll:thanks for posting this. You see, this is why it is good to post full content and not just run with headlines. I encourage everybody to watch that video and contribute to this topic with your thoughts (without prejudice, if you can). I watched all 35 mins and here are my unfazed and unfiltered thoughts. 1. Thumbs up to Trump for showing his great mental health/state and fortitude. Man spoke for 35mins without notes or a teleprompter and answered question after question in what appeared initially to be a hostile environment, and yet didn't flinch or stutter...👏. More props to him for adequately shutting lady in blue down, that was a horrible ambush-style introduction to an interview you invited a person to...He shut her down with finesse..and segued effortlessly to lady in pink. Trump has lived most of his life in front of a camera, she should have known better. I also like how he was salty to her alone, from start to finish. Gave her back her energy💯. Also like how he pointed the mic issues early on, which lady in pink corroborated 2. He answered well on cause of inflation and reducing inflation. 3. I don't like the choice of the word 'black jobs' he used, esp since he was in the midst of blacks, but if we stick to the crux of the subject and not the 'term' he used, he was telling the truth. Illegal immigrants are taking all the low to middle class jobs for cheaper pay, thus edging out the blacks who typically occupy said jobs. It is what it is. The educated and qualified ones including even black from Nigeria can get the juicy roles, but the reality is majority of blacks aren't educated or qualified enough to fill the juicy roles. 4. I like the joke about Kamala being Indian until it was time to be vice president and then became more black. What can I say, I have a sense of humour. 5. I don't like the comment about Kamala not passing her bar exam. That was totally unnecessary and tacky. 6. I like how he stylishly did not allow himself to be put on the hot seat for JD Vance's views. Let JDvance speak for himself. 7. I like how he espoused JD Vance's positive and notable qualities and accomplishments that made him pick him as running mate. 8. I don't like how he didn't answer the question on police immunity in cases like the Sonia shooting where evil cops kill innocent people. He dodged that one, albeit very unconvincingly. I hope he reflects on that and sees that he can't make an absolute decision to give popo immunity esp considering rampant circumstances like that where evil popo really do kill innocent people. 9. i like his stand on border control, always have. 10. On Roe V Wade, I like how he said the people are deciding by voting what should be what. That is commonsense. Let the people, decide by vote if they wanna just be better at preventing pregnancies than aborting pregnancies. I like how he clarified for those who don't know, that the exceptions for rape, threat to mother's life still are in force despite ROE v Wade. 11. On the Jan capitol rioters, i don't like how he says they did no wrong, although I understand what he is driving at. Nonetheless, two wrongs don't make a right. He is saying though, know that others have done worse and still did worse as recent as 5 days ago, but no outrage at all unlike the outrage for the Jan rioters, simply cos he isn't involved. Yes we see the hypocrisy he is trying to point out, but it was foolhardy of him to justify the illegality on record like that. Wrong is wrong, doesn't matter if the other side is a hypocritical one, you shouldn't be the one to justify an obviously illegal act just cos the other side is just as guilty. He allowed his emotion get the better of him here. All in all, dude was super sound for the most part and held his own, even did very well taking control of that environment. I don't understand why you feel he crashed 🤷 |

Treadway:Thank you for the pointers. If previous experience is used as a yardstick, I can bet my bottom $ that the person who posted the link above NEVER watched up to 1/4 of the entire interview before jumping with glee to post it on this thread. While i absolutely have no preference for DJT, I think it’s always batter to be balanced. |

missjekyll:Those first set of questions were perfectly legitimate questions but Trump could not help himself . I don’t know why his handlers allowed him to appear on that program, Trump got no regard for decency, I thought after the failed assassination attempt he will be more of a peacemaker but no he kept on doing what he knows how to do best. |

justwise:How do you expect Trump, to change his Trump - Card..... That would simply silence his trumpet 🎺🎺🎺.......😂🎺😭🤣 His Ego, is simply what makes him Trump...... The only thing that could have silenced that trumpet, was if that guy attended all his gun lessons........😜😂 |

Lexusgs430:las la na human beings we all be. He isn't otherworldly. Ordinary mods here cannot even stand you challenging even their wrong or weak points of view before they go berserk and bare all fangs out, but we expect Trump to have smiled at that salty intro. Even individuals here who are not mods with any power, still go dey defensive towards any smidge or whiff of hostility (even imaginary hostility, Kumbhuru ring a bell??) I come in peace😎 Las las come November, we go see who Americans go pick.. Rambunctious Trump or Cackling Kamala |

Lexusgs430:No I wasn’t expecting him to do anything different but I was wondering why he bothered to attend. Black job he meant unskilled jobs , low paying jobs etc because illegal workers goes for such jobs. Fox News or OAN will not ask him such questions. |

Tech apprenticeship with the civil service. You need ILR and 3 years residency. Always write your cover letter to the competencies. Give examples for how you meet each one. Good luck! https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi?SID=c2VhcmNoc29ydD1jbG9zaW5nJmpvYmxpc3Rfdmlld192YWM9MTkxODIyMSZ1c2Vyc2VhcmNoY29udGV4dD05MDQ0Mzk3MCZwYWdlY2xhc3M9Sm9icyZwYWdlYWN0aW9uPXZpZXd2YWNieWpvYmxpc3Qmc2VhcmNocGFnZT0xJm93bmVydHlwZT1mYWlyJm93bmVyPTUwNzAwMDAmcmVxc2lnPTE3MjI1ODI3ODMtMzAzNTgxZmY0MGQ1MWQxNGE0YTBhOTNlYjRhOTliODhhYTVjNWIxNQ== |

justwise:All the questions were legit. He said and did all those things he was being asked about. He is a racist ,fascist wannabe. All flaws,no redeeming feature(didn't think that was possible) The delay in starting was because his team refused to let the conference factcheck him in real time. His penchant for lying of course is well known and he lied throughout this interview. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by LionInZion: 10:29pm On Aug 02, 2024 |
missjekyll:He was just blatantly and disrespectfully evading those questions. If I was a black voter in the US and was yet undecided before the interview, he just gave me a good reason to either vote for his opponent or not vote at all. But then I think the first interviewer also gave him a perfect avenue to be his arrogant self. She could have asked those questions in a more friendly manner and still nailed him. She was more hostile than being professional - it's like trying to engage in a mud fight with a pig - you can't win. |

Fraih:Perish this thought, it won't make you way richer because the employer contribution will not be paid to you and your own contribution will be taxed before you get it. Is there anything you want to do now that you are not able to do because of the pension money that is not entering your account monthly? |

Pee4Paul: Pee4Paul:Kudos.. You should be here soon. You're much needed hence why the government is offering 10k for physics teachers. Good job but not without its challenges especially in 'secondary schools'. After certification, you'd be at the forefront of parent and student entitlement. Was recently informed of a school where all the English teachers resigned and it seems the mathematics teachers are planning same. Students don show dem shege. Being black and immigrant also means there are some other issues to contend with. Not trying to scare you but telling you so you'd brace yourself. You go dey all right las las. My advise is to seek out the best for you. Explore widely and don't be afraid to port if you need to. I started prepping and looking for my second role while still inducting for my first role and ported after 5 months. Asked a teacher on a similar path who mentioned this: diaspora.doodler@ gmail.com The lady has a YouTube page (worth checking out) to support those coming over and offers non-paid advise on a WhatsApp group Aside the subject knowledge part of the interview, also look at the non subject part too. That one dey. |

missjekyll:You are conflating many issues. I have always been a higher rate payer and crossed temporarily into the additional rate a while back. I have no issues with paying my fair share. I argued here in favour of vat on private schools despite it potentially affecting me. My issue here is why a few years ago, you were fervently praying for more Nigerians to become impoverished so you and you mum can buy up their properties on the cheap but now in the UK, you moan when your landlord who is providing you a perfectly legitimate service asks for his cut of your pay. You did not bother about the many homeless almajiris that'd roam our streets when you were asking for a recession. Your prayers have sure been answered. Just like with religion, being wealthy does not make you left or right. What I respect is consistency or a valid reason for change. To put is clearly, what would be your stance on the Nigerian government introducing a worldwide annual tax for all Nigerians to support the many poor back home? What would be your stance if the Nigerian government decides to 'tax to the teeth' the extra properties your family scooped up back home. Would you be happy to handover 40% of your mums property to the Nigerian government if she passes them on? That's what makes you left not your stance on your landlord. |

jedisco:The only issue that's up for discussion is your justification for labelling me "far left" ? Do you know what that term means? I am left of centre but I have never eschewed the democratic process or advocated for trampling on human rights. These 2 things would make me far left. You shouldn't just parrot rishi sunak. She was supporting the tories up till the election .even with all their iniquities. Soo... shrugs. As for Zahra...another shrug. Did I ask what your taxrate was? Pardon me if I did. I wouldn't expose you to the tender mercies of nairaland scammers like that. The rest of your post have been treated in previous posts and I refuse to spend a lovely summer day rehashing old posts. |

missjekyll:Quite generous coming from someone who was giving us a lecture on tax and insinuating those who who do not support her stance on VAT on private schools or taxing landlords till they shiver e.t.c wanted UK to become like Nigeria. Shouldn't surprise you that many people against some of those narratives have paid their fair share and more. All said, seems you have bigger issues with folks here. I many times respond based on content not moniker. Chill my sister. It's just another online forum. |
