It's nothing new to me, I also help my wife braid her hair at times. I playfully learnt how to plait hair at my mum's friend's salon many years ago and never knew it would be useful someday. |

ThothHermes:It's dumb to assign a job to someone because of what's between their legs especially in this century when jobs are hard to find. It's not just dumb, it's also reductive and limiting......you are gonna tell me "these are the jobs suited for me because of what's between my legs?" What era are you living in? This isn't the 50s where jobs were allocated on the basis of sex and judging from the way you are speaking, it's completely obvious you haven't left the four walls of the hellhole you are living in |

finallybusy:That is not true. The percentage of men who can do female hair in Nigeria is less than 0.01percent. if you were talking of cooking, that is understandable, but doing hair? That is rare. Majority of women can't do their own hair ![]() |

Calitoscassius:- People in the UK/US/AU/NZ/etc likely eat a lot more processed food. And they may not even know it because in Nigeria, the random places you buy food is generally real food, but the same thing abroad is a chemical cocktail. In the UK, they're better at controlling this though. - Food in the west has a lot of excess sugar, fat, and salt. It's pretty bad because an American or brit will go to a foreign country, eat as much as they want, and then end up losing weight. People don't really realize that's in there because it's so normalized. - Some people go there, and they're fighting to pay bills and establish themselves. They may work 60+ hours or work full time and go to school, and have kids. They simply don't have the energy or time to do anything but go home, eat, and rest. - Some parts of the UK/US/etc. are developed in a way where people can't walk anywhere (these tend to be the cheapest places). Anything you want to do requires you to drive, even getting some bread and eggs. When you combine that with a job where they sit a lot, it's a recipe for weight gain. - Healthier food tends to be more expensive in the west. If you shop carefully, you can still get it at a lower price, especially in rural areas. But if people are working with a leaner budget, they may opt for unhealthy stuff to save. - Some people get to a foreign country, and have the means and opportunity to try all sorts of food and cuisines they never had. So they dive right in, and they don't even realize they're gaining weight. lol |

Flamemignon1:Your powers of comprehension are apparently limited. Men for instance are better equipped for jobs that require strength, eg. construction workers, oil rig technicians. This does not mean that you won't find a few women in those sectors. However, men will always be far more than women. Now, do you want explain what you mean by "gender is a social construct" or are you just parroting something you saw on the Internet? |

ThothHermes:"Gender is a social construct" refers to society standards of gender. Just because a man is much more stronger, society demands he chooses "male dominated jobs" even if he doesn't like it hence why it's a social construct and also it's the 21st century, I was correcting the assertion made by the original comment that boxed people in especially today as it makes no damn sense because jobs are rare to find but someone wants to shame someone else for doing a job considered feminine by society because of how society views feminity. Have you ever asked yourself why there's more scrutiny for a man getting into "feminine jobs" than a woman getting into "masculine jobs"? Don't get me wrong, both are criticized by society for giving gender roles the finger but there's more scrutiny when a man decides to fit into a woman's role but more praise when a woman steps into a man's shoes in the workplace and this shame comes mostly by men who will shame their fellow men for trying to fit into a "woman's field".......have you ever asked yourself why that is? I personally think it's because society (mostly men in this case) views feminity as "less than" and also view it as weakness |
