I recently approached a bank in Nigeria to open an account. The lady told me there was no network and that i should write in a form few basic info of myself and then she gave me her whatsapp number to send my ID pictures to her there. While at home, I sent her the pictures but she kept insisting there was no network the 2 times i called. After few days, I deleted the messages i sent to her on WhatsApp cos she was inconsistent.

All this took place on May, 2024
I never opened my account officially.. but all of a sudden this month August, the bank sent me series of messages of an opened account in their institution congratulating me of opening an account with them and even advising me to pick up my debit card at any of their branch closer to me.

I never approved this and i do not know how they opened an account without my passport, a live photo or ID. Please can i pursue this case in the court? Cos i do not feel safe about this.

U went to bank to open account....
because of network the customer service person told did what she could by helping you to do the rest remotely....and you agreed by sending your personal details.....

U did not call or chat her that you are no longer interested, you did not go to the bank to take back the form....they now opened the account, u said u want to go to Court...

Wait... to what end??...don't get me wrong oo u are free to go to court ooo, but What damages do u want to claim??

The account that was opened, what distress, pain, trauma,or loss has it caused you that you want to sue for....because U filled form with your hand..bah!!!

what proof of damages do u have to show that the account the bank opened has caused u??
