You may be right but the house was almost not rentable before I came in. The last tenant damaged the house beyond recognition before leaving. I repainted everything, changed tiles in all the bathrooms, installed hot water tanks, redid flooring in the living room, and conducted major upgrades that would allow the landlord to charge a higher rent tomorrow. All I needed was just an acknowledgment and a thank you. It was my fault though.
I have learned my lessons and never spend a dime on what does not belong to me.

he can't just arrest him. You don't know if he's going to plaster the floor and leave it the way he met it. Don't rush to conclusion.
Also it's very likely he paid caution fee too. Though I think the caution fees in Nigeria should be higher than What's being paid today and the money should be returned if the rented space is left in good condition. But but dey inside. I know my people, both landlords and tenants..

The guy must have a serious anger issue - sometimes, you just let go.
As a young bachelor, I got an old apartment in a very fine location, within my staff bus route as I was still a trainee and close to many places I liked. I did serious renovation, including changing the kitchen sink, POP in the living room and changed the toilet seat in the masters bedroom with new wall tiles. I still left the house when I left but I did enjoyed the place, the security it offered and nearness to almost everything I wanted.

The reason the guy is doing such is because the landlord/lady didn't treat him right or keep to his/her end of agreement.

I just came back home this evening and I noticed a tenant in our street is removing the tiles in his store, he's been packing out some of his things from the shop for the past one week.

One thing about removing tiles is that you will end up damaging the floor. So why not leave the tiles and pack out? I doubt if he will plaster the floor cos I know the toxic relationship between him and the landlord.

Most landlords are evil, they always wait for tenants to upgrade their house and give them quit notice so that they can let it out at a higher price. Don't pity the landlord

Thank you. I made the house very modern and was only expecting an acknowledgment and nothing more. The dude just ignored me. once u leave,the idiot will increase the rent according to the level of renovation done on the house by the. Previous tenant.the new tenant won't even know the renovation wasnt done by the landlord


U should have negotiated with the landlord b4 starting the renovations tho.his Kinda response would have determined the level of effort placedon renovation

Stop defending nonsense. Landlord will tell you to go ahead, when it's now time to pay, you will now bear all the burden. The next thing, he will say he's either increasing the rent or giving you a quit notice.

Are you saying that even if one doesn't have money for new house (agents, commission, damages and the stress of house hunting) he should pack out of the house he is staying because he is not supposed to die a tenant? some TENANTS are DEMONS from the PIT of HELL. Some will frustrate your life.It is NOT BY FORCE to live in somebody house..If u think the landlord/lady doesn't like u,.Leave his property and move elsewhere
