No body should talk about fuel and transportation here because the traders them self are doing this on purpose.
For example, a bag pure water is 350 but they are still selling 50 for one, is that not a character of corruption
Na we dey do ourselves

Can someone please kindly inform kabiyesi that while its good that he has banned middle men who inflate prices, he has not exactly ordered that fertiliser be sold at uninflated prices, nor has he placed any control on land prices and labour and transport costs that contribute to the price of food in the market. And that if the prices he has ordered mean I sell at a loss, there are other markets where i can take my food to sell at a profit.
I just relayed your message. baba said you should kindly fvck off o. shocked

Mr. Man, most of cash crops do not need fertilizer in the Southwest to grow. It’s man inhumanity to man that causes these artificial inflated prices of common foodstuff. The Kabiyesi took the right step.
Yes you’re right but not all crops are grown in just an area in large quantities

The Oba should order that petrol should not be sold above 200 naira per liter.
Common sense is indeed not common! You just proved it with your comment.

Zero economic sense, they will end of creating a black market in the community or worsen the scarcity.
The oba isn't knowledgeable to know that that won't work. Let's see how it pans out

Fact of the matter is that traders are increasing prices arbitrarily and causing relentless inflation due to ignorance. Yes transport and labor costs has increased but production and transportation is being done in bulk so economy of scale should kick in as the cost is spread over multiple units of the products.
People are just too greedy.
Greed is the key word.
Farm produce get through at least three middlemen before reaching the final consumer.
It's a good thing the king did.
If the numerous middlemen want to make money, they should enter the farms and work.

Thats not true. How much is fuel in your area and believe me most of these traders travel far as early as 4 am to get the items back to the market. Police check points, fuel, diesel and other things don’t help matters. Think am na.
It's not true. The traders are the ones inflating the prices in the market through their unions and associations.
Even the transporters too do the same.
There's no price control board in Nigeria and that's why.

What you’re demanding for is quite easy.

Since the petroleum industry has been deregulated, you can actually apply for licence to import fuel and sell at N200 to the people.

I can assure you that the whole country will buy only from you and shun other marketers and that would have solved the issue you raised.

They could just move to the next village where the ban does not extend to. The people from the affected village will be forced to pay transport (hence paying more) to the unaffected village and buy at the going rate.

Food items are expensive but the activities of middlemen and unwholesome avarice of foodstuff sellers are contributory factors.

Thank you kabiyesi!

Ekiti residents understand exactly how costly living is over there.

Walahi that shit hole is more expensive than staying in Lagos.

It's the most expensive state and emptiest in southwest.

The people live on fast lane because of escalated cost of living.

Insecurity has been at it's peak in the past months with people robbing and killing anyhow in ado.

Abeg something needs to be urgently done in that hole.

I commend the oba on this.

bros traders transportation are the cheapest because their bus are different, for example in warri here , from warri to Onitsha as an individual is about 7k, then coming back another 7k that's 14k right. But the "market bus" will charge you 4k to Onitsha and it includes going and coming back

Even the one produced in a farm within the areas, when you bring it to the market to sell, you have to still sell the market price on the high, even if you're not incurring any transport cost.

scrapping union task collectors and having a food price cap and control is the right way to go.

Forget about forces of demand and supply for those shouting about forces of demand and supply. This is Nigeria where oyinbo system will never work except we stay on our own traditions, cultures, etc to make prices of good and services cheaper at all levels

But me and you Dey the same boat. There’s a source that’s responsible for this. They should be stopped and our traders will sell as they produce or buy. State government hand also Dey inside cos they want to generate revenue.

The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, has cancelled various traders’ associations in markets in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, intending to remove their undue control of prices and ensure farmers have direct access to traders.

The Oba will have serious Problems with Tinubu's daughter Alhaja Folashade -Tinubu Ojo the Iyaloja general of Yoruba Land.

You don't readi swear, the famers might bring pepper at 10k per bag will the association will decide to sell at 40k, he is breaking that middle man chain allowing farmers direct access to the market, same thing wrong with the Nigerian oil sector marketers fix the prices

This is the real issue here and not price of fuel.

Reports have it that traders, under the aegis of the associations, hide under middlemen to inflate the prices of goods such as tomatoes, pepper, vegetable, palm oil, locust beans, meat, garri, among others by dictating prices to the farmers that brought them to the markets for sale.
