The servile culture of Yorubas is a big headache to some of us who are not from there.

So because someone helped you one time in your life you have to become enslaved to them forever?

I don't want to hear loyalty because there's a big difference between being loyal to someone and becoming enslaved to the extent that you cannot tell them hard truths or go against their wish or request because they helped you one time in life.

Anyhow, this should serve as a lesson - be wary of people who are quick to shower you with gifts and help that you haven't earned, they might have very sinister reasons, and most times "awoof dey purge belle".

Egbetokun by his statement has shown that he is unprofessional and not worthy of the IGP seat he's currently occupying.

Shaking my head. This already tells us all we need to know about this government. They are all in positions to serve their benefactor, not the nation. It's not surprising though.

Are you aware that it's that so called 'Enslavement' that made this man IGP, I'm not yoruba but you guys talk as if you live in alternate universes, if he had not kept in touch with Tinubu after he helped him in 1998, do you think he would have been IGP today? It seems many of you commenting on nairaland are kids, in the real world grown men regardless of their tribes kiss asses for advancement and favours, life is not a bed of roses.

Until the office of igp, inec chairman, chief justice,Senate president and house of representative becomes independent Nigerian will never move forward because we are too attached to our emotions. If these offices are elected by their members like labour Congress, nurtw, and other groups Nigeria will be great because they will do their job without fear of being removed by the president or the governor.

It is such a parochial view of life that's problematic for someone like me who is Igbo.

In our culture, we denigrate such behaviour and strongly believe that only our "Chi" charts the course of our lives, and that whatever level we will attain is not dependent on any man.

Yes everyone understands that people kiss ass and do all sorts to curry favours but the ultimate question is this - is such behaviour beneficial or detrimental to society at large?

You are unable to rise above individualistic thinking to understand that only when the collective is okay will the individual flourish.

On a final note, we have seen IGPs like Tafa Balogun thoroughly disgraced and die as a villain so if you think becoming an IGP is so wonderful, let's check back in a few years.

That's how the disgraced criminal called Abba Kyari would also have become IGP one day and people like you will see nothing wrong with it because "it's human nature to kiss ass, steal, kill and do whatever it takes" to get to the top.

What you fail to realise is that's a hobesian state of nature which every society must strive to move away from, collectively, if we are ever to become an enlightened and advanced civilisation.

I will ignore your comment about kids and whatnot cos it's inconsequential to the argument.

keep writing turenchi, you just pulled the chi thing out of your ass, real life is different from social media and being an IGP or rising to the peak of your career is no small feat, you're just trying to downplay his achievements because you don't support the President. If its easy go on to become the IGP of police In Nigeria or attain the peak of your career without scheming or kissing asses kid.

1998 to 2024 is over 20 years
That's the reward of diligence and loyalty..
Time is the key
does that now mean that the man will be loyal to tinubu and not nigeria?

We have never seen or heard of anyone that was made through your saviour, not a living soul or dead sef. What a saviour! Not even anyone that worked with him in his first and second term has come out to say anything about him. Even Jesus had disciples.

so after rising to the peak of his career and occupying the office of the IGP, will he be loyal to tinubu who helped get to the peak or he will loyal to nigeria in the discharge of his duties?

if he has to make a decision that will compromise his relationship with tinubu but will favour nigeria, which will he do?

Apparently you're the actual kid who reduces serious matters to club football banter level of discussion - a clear indication of how low your level of thinking is.

I will no longer dignify you with a response after this.
