Guys u know there are different type of IELTS exam.i think we really have to find out which particular one we are to write for the German opportunity card .I also googled and saw that English proficiency B2 which is required for the opportunity card is 5.0 band score in IELTS which will not be too difficult to get if u study well not like Canada that may require a higher band score.another issue is the German proficiency A1.does anyone know and where we can register to learn German and write the exam .the big elephant in the room is getting a job and getting the contract document to bypass that block account prove of fund and certificate recognition although for IT jobs which is not a regulated sector in Germany certificate recognition is not compulsory |

It's either you present Blocked Account,Declaration of commitment, Job offer or Current Bank Statement. Blocked account is usually asked for study purpose. If you have sufficient balance in your account you are good to go. |

Financing You can cover your living costs in Germany through your own means or a formal declaration of commitment. In addition, if you have concrete plans, income from secondary employment that is permitted with an opportunity card can be taken into account. Please provide the following proof depending on your individual case: ⬜ Private resources in a bank account: To stay in Germany, each individual applicant must have at their disposal at least 1027 euro per month, which for the standard 12-month stay with an opportunity card totals 12,324 euro. You can prove you have sufficient resources by presenting bank statements or a so-called blocked account. Blocked account: Please open the blocked account in good time before you apply for a visa. When applying for a visa, only the official confirmation of the opening of the account issued by the bank, including information on the amount paid in and the amount available per month, will be accepted. Confirmation which does not cite these amounts is not sufficient, nor is proof of lodgement or transfer of funds without confirmation from the bank. OR ⬜ Secondary employment: If you have a concrete opportunity for secondary employment in Germany, you can present an employment contract or a binding job offer detailing the weekly working hours and your monthly wage. OR ⬜ Declaration of commitment: Proof by means of a formal declaration of commitment in accordance with §§ 66, 68 AufenthG, in which a person undertakes in writing to the German immigration authority to bear the costs (original + copy). https://nigeria.diplo.de/ng-en/-/2660860 Blocked Account is also applicable for Opportunity Card. German embassy/ consulate have no need for your Nigerian bank account statement. You must block the funds if that is the option you are using to prove your sustenance. Please give correct and complete information. nnanyelugo1: |

Hilarious710:I think it is better to write the IELTS exam rather than the Germany Proficiency Exam, then keep on learning German on the side to enable your easy integration into the job market over there. I also think that one should go for official recognition of a degree whether regulated or non-regulated profession. Having your certificate recognized automatically qualifies you for the Opportunity Card Provided you can show your blocked account and also your language proficiency. However, the downside is the amount involved ( I applied for a certificate evaluation by ZAB for 208 euros). The blocked account issue might just come down to taking loans as a last resort lol. |

Please do your research well. German Embassy is a accepting 6 months bank statement if you don't have blocked account. Secondly if your degree and university are fully recognised in Anabin(H+) you don't need IELTS and ZAB. It's better you get clarification from German Embassy to avoid misleading information. |

nnanyelugo1:My university was on Anabin (H+) but my degree wasn’t that’s why I went for ZAB. Please how do I verify this acceptance of Nigerian bank account because it is very important and I want to know for sure. Finally, if I get my ZAB evaluation successfully, do I still need IELTS? |

German embassy doesn't accept bank statements for chance card, student visa or work visas. They might accept for visit visa, but then the person inviting you will still drop proof of sponsor. Language requirements are essential in collecting points as the chancecard is a point based system and one should strive to have a minimum of 6 points. nnanyelugo1: |

I will give a quick advice for you to secure a secondary employment in Germany. I do not guarantee that it will work out for you but you can try it. Germany is in need of nursing assistants(care givers) and the adverts are increasing. If you can, apply as a care giver for part time or full time, for this opportunity card financing . BUT applying directly as a care giver for work visa will NOT really work because having the qualification is a requirement for the visa. But as a part-time job(for opportunity card) might work. So give it a try if you are finding it difficult getting jobs. |

ihavesense:I think you still need IELTS, I don't think having your education recognised has anything to do with IELTS |

rinzaugustine:On point. It's always about raising taxes to fund the social security payroll. At the end of the day a coloured person may still be discriminated despite citizenship status. Look at the footballers. But, I will agree, that discrimination is nothing compared to the damage corruption has done to us. |
