I really didn't understand this until a flight of mine was diverted to Abuja because of weather (can you imagine in another country an Airline being allowed to just drop you off in a Random place with no thought of getting you to your final destination), there was that Airline strike or whatever it was and so I had to charter a vehicle from Abuja to the East. I had never seen people living in mud(I think it was mud) built houses without windows or doors (had holes where both should be) before. It was a true eye opening experience.

It was similar with a drive I did from Mass to Florida. Going through states like W.VA, North Carolina and parts of FL, I had never seen poverty in the US like I did in some cities in those states. Another eye opening experience.

1.) The FMLA(Parental Leave) part was passed because Ivanka pushed it. Ivanka who won't be in the new administration. She got Republicans to agree to pass it.

2.) The Child Tax Credit increase again was a Dem priority. The extension passed the House and the Republicans killed it in the Senate.

It's like cognitive dissonance. You amp up Dem policy priorities that Republicans generally kill in support of electing Republicans. Just wild.

2.) There is a 60 vote threshold to break a filibuster. You pretend you don't know the filibuster exists. To fully control the Senate the Dems would have needed a 60 member majority.
60 votes because that is the threshold to pass a bill because that is the threshold to break a Republicans filibuster. As Republicans filibuster most bills. Hence the reason the Dems are being pushed to kill the filibuster.
So, no the Dems did not fully control the Senate in 2021.
