cheesy

That actually good. Considering the fact that Mental maturity is needed to excel in some top courses in the Uni

I know there are exceptional cases whereby a 17year old student can top his class in the Uni, but exceptions dont make the rules

If you do not understand the relationship between age-dependent higher cognitive reasoning and Academic excellence, then I wont be surprised to see u attack this good development
Oga you are just foolish, in my Uni days i was very young and i can bet you most of the older students look up to me during exams, else they will fail woefully, there is no relationship between brain development academically and age, it is not a factor of age, you and your lawmakers are dumb in you sick country. I was around 15 when i sat for SSCE and in my secondary schools days i was already wining inter school science quiz competition for my school.

Once a woman is above 18, she's ripe for marriage. No single woman above 18 can say that a responsible man did approach her at that age. So, if she's single at 24 and above, something is spiritual, morally or socially WRONG WITH HER. Do not carry her burden.
If you do, her ex will come and still fvck her while you play fatherly role. Be wise. Be the first to fvck her.

Many single girls above this age have lost their glory, their pride, their essence, their virginity.
If you marry a woman who is not a virgin when youet her, you have sentenced yourself to a life of torment!
She will fvck her ex the moment he shows up to her on Facebook or in the market and you will train his children thinking they're yours.

Do not suffer to pay bride price, sponsor wedding ceremony and take care of in-laws just to have a woman who was fvcked in her best state (virgin) by another man with just two eggs and indomie. Only a fool would do that. Are you the fool?

Fvck any woman you want but when it comes to marriage, take your time to find a young virgin woman and marry. Only her can guarantee you a happy peaceful lasting home you can return to after work.

Be wise. Be the first!
Of all the things in the world, na watin dey pain you be this. Bros, make we no lie, your life don spoil. Not to say you are wrong, though.

Personal I feel this is an attack by Tahir Mamman on Southerners who crave for knowledge and education even at a very tender age like we’ve seen over the years. Southerners I urge you to resist this Nonsense! As a Northerner myself I really appreciate and love how our counterparts from the other divide are gaining grounds and breaking records at such tender/very young age. People like Soyinka, Rotimi Ameachi and the likes gained admission into various Universities quite early and graduate at just 19- 23 years aggregate. Which enabled them to become who they are. Personally I don’t think a 15-17 year old writing WEAC, NECO or evening gaining admission is is a bad thing.

FG better start from the next academic session to ensure that no child younger than 6 gets admitted to Primary 1, then they can achieve their so called 18 years if the child doesn't repeat. That will be 6 years at home + 6 years in Pry school + 6 years in secondary school.

It doesn't make sense enforcing such now
You want a child to start school at age 6. knowing fully well that we have a very long academic calendar in this country. my first daughter is just 6 years old now and she can read very well. she can even solve some basic math's problem, and she is very curious about some many things, she is in pry 2 already. and i am thinking of jumping her from Pry 5 to JSS 1, because of her academic intelligence. so, you want me to make her suffer more long years in school because of a child from dumb family who most likely neglected their child's academic needs at the early stage. anyway, you all can do as you please in your shithole country so help me God i will ensure she doesn't do secondary school or at most Uni in your shithole country.

This is a ploy by the North the even the imbalance they suffer...simple!

They simply cannot compete with the South and are trying to use underhand tactics.

The South should resist it squarely-- no time!

If they don't accept, then let us go our seperate ways.
You cannot try to destroy the lives of our children and we fold our hands and watch.

I now work and live abroad and only wonder at the years of my life, the Nigerian system wasted.

The Minister is mad and anybody supporting him is madder.
E no go beta for all of them.

This is quite retrogressive in this day and age of advanced technology.

I left secondary school at age 15, almost 3 decades ago. Qualified through JAMB at age 16, and it has been a great ride of life afterwards.

Presently, the average age to sit for WAEC/NECO for 6 sets of students in Secondary School is 16 years. What provision is in place for the proposed 2-year minimum lag? Should they just stop at their present class of study and continue when they fit the 18 years model?

Or, will the FG provide and encourage vocational centers for all to bridge the Post Secondary School/ Pre-University stage? If this is in place, it will make load of sense. Otherwise, it will be unfair to plunge our future leaders to an unfair loss of competitive advantage among their global peers
The calculation is that, for your child to start proper school, he must be at least 3 years, then roughly 8 years in primary (I. e pre nursery, nursery, and primary, then 6 years in the secondary, plus the little time you will wait to get ur results ready, bringing it to 17 and half.

Re: FG To Enforce 18-Year Age Limit For WAEC, NECO Exams by obailala(m): 2:06pm On Aug 26, 2024
These are the kind of useless policies you get when you have clueless dinosaurs in positions of authority, courtesy of corruption, nepotism and kakistocracy.

With this new policy, if I'm to predict the potential trajectory of the majority of students, an otherwise brilliant pupil gets to SS3 at 16, and then graduates to Yahoo-Yahoo academy. Other engaging factors would be drugs, gangs, prostitution etc. By the time they clock 18, the child's brain would be frozen from inactivity. They then sit for waec and jamb and fail repeatedly until they eventually either give up as dropouts.

By the end we would have substituted a generation of brilliant minds for yahoo yahoo dropouts.

Your answer!

“Even basically if you compute the number of years pupils, and learners are supposed to be in school, the number you will end up with is 17 and a half – from early child care to primary school to junior secondary school and then senior secondary school. You will end up with 17 and a half by the time they are ready for admission.

So a child who's intelligent will have to wait till he or she reaches 18 before writing SSCE. This seems to me like a waste of time.
Nigeria factors always work against intelligent children. I have a nephew, he is 18 now. He spent 4 years in the primary school. He got double promotion twice. He is in the university now. This wicked policy will work against brilliant children like this.

It will not stand there are a lot of children that would be 16 when they are in SS 3 so they should go back home and wait till they turn 18 before they write waec and neck ? It will not work, everything about this government is retrogressive.

That's not the problem in the educational sector, it lacks funding and policies, the 6-3-3-4 system has not been fully implemented they're talking about age

It's welcome development. 80 percent of under 18 candidates that have a sitting results in waec and neco in Nigeria involved in examination malpractices.
Actually the reverse is the case, the older candidates are the ones who engage in exam malpractice, because most of them are dumb. The useless minister is just trying to discourage education among we southerners and all the people you see supporting this policy are actually the slow and dumb ones among us.

valentineuwakwe:
Why will a child pass out basic 5 by age 16? Is there no basic 6 or primary 6 again? Is the curricula not 6-3-3-4 again? Or did she skip class.....
Why skip your children classes unto they are too intelligent or what?
This is the best policy so far!
Dullard and slow learners like you will always support this policy, i know. If not for the witchcraft in your hearts you all will be looking for ways to tie other highfliers down, simply because you are low flier.
