🤣

Your level of thinking is so petty.
People are thinking of doing grand things with their lives, you are here bragging over data?

🤣

Explains why you think writing ordinary WAEC at 18 is an achievement.
You what have achieved in your life?
I wrote Waec 20yrs ago boy. I wrote Waec myself. I read. Not with expo like you guys these days use.

It's not a new policy indeed, l was age of 12 when l was in pry 6. So basically, l was 17 to 18 when I wrote my WAEC (SSCE)
maybe because you were a slow learner, so everyone must be like you. what kind of mentality is that?

mhmsadyq:
Your answer!

“Even basically if you compute the number of years pupils, and learners are supposed to be in school, the number you will end up with is 17 and a half – from early child care to primary school to junior secondary school and then senior secondary school. You will end up with 17 and a half by the time they are ready for admission.
So there should be no double promotion, so you want to suffer a student who already knows the subject too well to be subjected to the torture of re-repeating same thing over and over again till the get bored and decided to quit learning abi, you people are evil and wicked. imagine you been placed in a class to start learning ABC over and over again and tell me if you will not be bored.

Throwback:
What is a 12 year old or 13 year old doing in SS3?
You people make me laugh sometimes. maybe you all didn't really pay attention very well in place, because if you did then you will know that our 6-3-3-6 education system is filled with lots of repetition, when a child crosses from one class to another they are not taught new things but rather lots of repetition of the olds things and only few things, to enable the child master what they were taught previously, every child brain is not the same some are fast learner will some are very slow learners so you cannot group everyone into the same bus, it will not work.

America this, America that. Copying American lifestyle and ideologies etc make u feel progressive? That's Inferiority complex. America is also celebrating Homosexuality, u and Ur children should also accept it, since America and the West are the ones that set the standard for how u should live Ur life.
We Africans should define our own path towards social, educational and economic progress. We don't have to depend on the Western world to dictate to us.
Copy copy dey lead to "see finish" Ooo.
Look at your monkier at leat i know it read Almajiri. you guys are the ones who consider western education a sin so i do not blame you, but please don't drag us backward, you are talking as if those useless leaders have anything upstairs to stare us on the right now. they are dumb that no one truly needs their planning for anything.

Dumbo!

Funny enough, I wrote WAEC 20 years ago too...
I was 15.

I barely studied because I was certain I would pass.
I had 2 As, 6Bs, 1 C4.
I could have done better, but hey... life continues.

Do you want to share your grades?

So what stops you from copying the great and ignoring what is not good according to you? Another brain dead nincompoop. You have a leader that suits you.
You may say or believe anything you like, but that doesn't change the fact that Nigeria has proven its ability to lead in certain situations, like tackling Ebola in its own unique way. Isn't it possible for Nigeria to lead rather than always following others in your lifetime?

You mentioned I have a leader that suits me, but not all Nigerians share the belief that politicians are the sole solution to our issues. I didn't vote for Atiku, Obi, or Tinubu. Your rudeness and insults towards those who disagree with you suggests that you're an ardent supporter of Obi. However, your perceived Messiah is no different from other candidates—he's equally corrupt. Why would a reasonable person vote for someone who takes advice from a mad man? It's no wonder that only unhinged supporters like you stand behind him. grin

This was the standard we knew growing up in Nigeria of the 80s and 90s, with the exception of those who were 16yrs because they skipped primary 6 to enter secondary school from primary 5.

So I don't understand where this age 18 matter is coming from.

If I complete my secondary school at age 17 like I actually did, am I not supposed to be in the university by the September of that same year and age?

Still, I think the minimum age should be 16yrs, to weed out those who abuse age limitations from the early classes.

A lower limit of 18yrs is an anomaly.

What are they doing in that class at that age?

It is such wanton and mindless abuse by parents and schools that has led to such wake up call from the policy makers.
abuse how

Re: FG To Enforce 18-Year Age Limit For WAEC, NECO Exams by Ijoni: 2:53pm On Aug 26, 2024
I feel this policy is very retrogressive and unnecessary. You cannot start implementing policy in the middle of children academic program. What happen to the children that will be graduating from secondary school next section at age 16? What should they be doing at home? They should wait 2 whole years at home before they will be eligible to write WAEC, NECO and JAMB? That will be very cruel of a government to it's young and promising citizens.
If there will be a policy change of this nature, it should be addressed from the age the children are admitted into the kindergarten section, then progressively into primary and secondary education. Not to jump into it in the middle of their academic studies, waste their precious time and tell us its not a new policy.
Secondly, government should not be in the habit of imposing policies on its citizens. The policy as can be seen is very unpopular. In climes where votes counts, such will lead to failure at the polls. The minister should gauge his proposed policy to test its popularity and be sure he is not doing something that will have adverse effect on his principal at the poll.
Last, I want to suggest that if age condition of this nature will be enforced, age barrier for employment in all government establishments should be abolished. You cannot on the one hand make it impossible for our children to enter school early and on the other hand enforced age restriction for employment for children that will possible encounter time wastage due to ASUU strike. I come in peace.

18? Nonsense! Where will WAEC get candidates to register? Most students in SS3 now are 15/16 highest 17. The policy will not work else WAEC and NECO will do nothing for the next two years. Yeye minister.

Don't be fooled by people's monikers. I'm a master's student in Educational Psychology. The word "Almunjid" (المنجد) is an Arabic term that means:
The man who gives help to people as soon as they are injured - rescuer; saver; helper; aide; reliever; succorer; supporter; assistant; liberator; savior.

Anyway, I agree with you that our leaders do not have the capacity to lead us in the right direction. They lack the intelligence necessary to plan effectively for our future. However, we must remember that these leaders were elected from among the people, which implies that neither the leaders nor the followers currently have the answers to our predicament.

I don't believe in any of our current leaders, such as Atiku, Obi, or Tinubu. Instead, I believe that things will improve when we, the followers, change our own mindsets and attitudes. Once we, the followers, change ourselves, our mentality, and our attitudes, the next generation of leaders will be able to take Nigeria to greater heights. But when will that day come? I don’t know. From the way every Nigerian seems to be looking for ways to exploit their fellow Nigerians, it doesn't appear that we are willing to change. So why are we blaming our leaders for not changing if we ourselves are unwilling to change?

Salaam!

It's saddening that the people from the region that is most backward in education are given the ministry of education to pilot. What do we expect...

Must the North take us back to their level? Are we actually okay? Any policy that isn't in their favour, they'll make sure they alter it to favour them. What concerns them with the age, when even employer are looking for young brains? . OTHER NATIONS ARE MOVING FORWARD, OUR LEADERS ARE CHOOSING BACKWARDNESS; NO WONDER THEY HAVE TO BRING BACK THE OLD NATIONAL ANTHEM!
Is this the way forward for the abundance of hunger, ever-increasing fuel and food prices, the economic downturn, insecurity, etc, that is ravaging this land?

You want a child to start school at age 6. knowing fully well that we have a very long academic calendar in this country. my first daughter is just 6 years old now and she can read very well. she can even solve some basic math's problem, and she is very curious about some many things, she is in pry 2 already. and i am thinking of jumping her from Pry 5 to JSS 1, because of her academic intelligence. so, you want me to make her suffer more long years in school because of a child from dumb family who most likely neglected their child's academic needs at the early stage. anyway, you all can do as you please in your shithole country so help me God i will ensure she doesn't do secondary school or at most Uni in your shithole country.
I do not want that, I do not suppprt the policy. You can confirm from my other comment on it.

I was only trying to say that they can't just enforce a policy that will affect so many people when so many years have already been spent transiting to higher classes already .

This is where NANS, ASUU, NLC and civil society organisations should come in. The issue of strikes must be addressed, no wasting of students time, spending more years in school. Employment and age benchmark for employment should be scrapped, private schools should be monitored... Though, it's distraction tactics by APC government... Let them fix the economy, fix NNPC, address the issue of brain drain, create employment and fight corruption to mention a few. They now know the poor are gradually catching up with their children in terms of education, they are trying to block that progress.. check out the number of Nigerian students achievements overseas, many from poor background
