Sorry for the late reply. If your definition of tribalism in this context is related to "a tendency to lean towards one player or another based on their tribe in Nigeria" then I would say I don't remember any of your opinions that fit this description. Of course, there's the long-standing sentiment that you lean toward English-born players. This sentiment is fair though, as there's history to back it up. It is also not an unreasonable bias on your part if you currently reside in the UK or have done so. I mean anyone would be more aware of their immediate environment. There are other reasons I think you have been doing this though. However, I maintain that tribalism is not a bad thing, and shouldn't be painted as such, but I get the irony it creates in the Nigerian context. komekn: |

I think Nigerians really hate osimhen and it’s sad ,even Italians don’t berate him like this Imagine people saying he isn’t worth 100M ,like ? Same transfer window that players like solanke are going for 65M ? Even Saudi came with their disrespectful bid self I just pray he finds a good club and be happy, that’s all that matters Lastly E be like say that osimhen agent no too get sense sha ,and I feel the wage structure he is also asking for is a bit higher ,that’s if what I read is the truth o |

andrewbaba44:Nigerians don't hate him.if u look at the afcon despite Lookman outstanding performance oshimen took most of the praises Nigerians really like him just his outburst the last time on Finidi that made some Nigerians hate his attitude and it doesn't mean they hate the player For your observation as regard foreign fans praise and love for oshimen it is so true. In the UK Chelsea fans literally pray and worship oshimen. Some of them even said they are going to throw up a party should he sign for Chelsea. Even the ex players welcome the prospect of having Haland kind of player in the epl I will advise him to go to Chelsea.....the fans already have so much love for him than any of the prospective club desiring his signature |

andrewbaba44:I believe there are people eagerly hoping for his move to fail or for him to go to Saudi, just to stick it to others and claim he's not all that. But these things happen a lot and we see It everyday, even in politics. People are people, and they'll act like people do. |

andrewbaba44:You're right about some Nigerians unnecessarily hating on Victor but wrong about the Saudi disrespect. 1. Player transfer is strictly business. You can pay more can pay more than necessary for a player or pay less than ideal for another. Everything boils down to how desperate the other party is and what leverage you have to work with. 2. Saudi typically doesn't pay for transfers, and when they do they don't go overboard. They'll rather spend money on player salaries. The €65m fee should it happen will make Victor the second most expensive transfer to Saudi Arabia, with only Neymar coming first. 3. ADL overplayed his hand. He had a massive offer just last season but was greedy. Now he's signed Victor to an expensive salary for the same greedy reason. Every club in world knows he's desperate. He either pays Victor his big salary this year if he refuses to sell and still lose him for free or cheap next season or sell him now. It's on that basis clubs are negotiating. They know ADL is condemned to sell. This really has nothing to do with Victor for the most part. 4. A player's transfer fee isn't a reflection of their value or their worth. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by charlesemeka85(m): 9:34am On Aug 28, 2024 |
lovewins:your 3rd point says it all. ADL is desperate and this is the reason why many clubs refused over bidding for Osimhen in this current TF window Napoli are trying all they can to let him go because of the senseless contract extension they gave him last season and on the player’s part he has got nothing to lose knowing fully well that at worst he will remain in Naples for just a season, pocket his fat wages then move to any club of his choice next summer for free Also this is the reason why ADL hv accepted his loss by slashing the player’s actual transfer fee. To me it’s a win win situation for Osimhen |

charlesemeka85:Exactly. It's business not emotions. How many of us will pay 10M naria for a building even if it's worth it, when we know in a few days the owner will be desperate enough to sell for 5M? Everyone knows ADL is boxed into a corner and they'll be foolish not to take advantage of it. |
