That's a major concern I had with Lagos Ibadan express, that after completion, Nigerian drivers will be doing fast and furious.

The rate at which drivers speed on that road can be very alarming

I repeat, bad road is unacceptable, but reckless driving kills more than bad road doors in Nigeria.

Three possible causes:

One, the Sienna probably wanted to do a reckless overtaking but had to quickly go behind the truck because there was an oncoming heavy vehicle.

Two, the truck swiftly meandered either unintentionally or intentionally to hurt the Sienna driver. An average Nigerian drivers can display an unimaginable level of heartlessness on the road.

Three, the truck suddenly slowed down and the Sienna was not maintaining a good distance.

But why is it often claimed that most of the trucks involved in road traffic accidents in this Nigeria do not have a registration number? This is not the first time I am reading that a truck involved in an accident does not have a registration number.
They do have but this is why they don't display it either in the front or the back of their vehicle.
It's bcus when they're been accosted by either touts or police on the highway to give them money. If they don't comply on time, they always go for their plate numbers and remove them. If you look in front of their dashboards you will see those plate numbers

If you have ever driven, then you will know that the accident may not be entirely due to recklessness. The truck's rear brakelights may have been out. Once the brakelight of the vehicle in front of you doesn't work, you DO NOT know when they are slowing down or coming to a halt. This such scenario can result in accidents like this. I remember about 8 years ago when God rescued us from a similar incident on third mainland bridge. At night, the truck ahead of us was emitting serious black smoke that covered the entire rear and made visibility really bad. Add to this, the rear night time lights of the truck was not working. I was coming at highspeed and did not realize a truck was in front of me. I got into a bad road bump and that slowed down our vehicle, and right there in front, I saw the truck.
It's still recklessness not to fix the rear brakelights.

Just like on our way back from Ondo, my husband was trying to overtake a truck, (it's a one way road) the oncoming car saw us, he was at a far distance but immediately increase his speed then, swerve his hand to our side, then returned it back to his side.
Humm, it was scary, it was a close shave.
That's why it's safe to assume all other road users are mad. Come to think of it, who does that kind of thing if not a mad man?
God knows that other driver will regret his very existence if I witness that kind of madness.

Then, why don't reporters find the number on the dashboard?
