The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has approved the payment of N70,000 minimum wage to civil servants under the employ of the state.

Nwifu[/b]ru announced this on Saturday at the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival.

[b]“I have directed relevant government authorities to draft out modalities for the payment of the new minimum wage commencing in September,” he said.

The governor, however, frowned at the lackadaisical manner by which government projects awarded as contracts to prominent leaders of the state were handled, especially the housing estates at Izo autonomous community in the Ishielu Local Government Area.

He gave a marching order to the Commissioner for Housing to ensure the painting of the houses immediately.

He further called on residents of the state not to hesitate to report government projects being delayed by contractors.

In 2019 30k minimum wage, rice sold at 18k.
In today's 70k minimum wage, rice selling at 80k per bag and our leaders are still contemplating weather to pay 70k or not. Nigerians are indeed going through a very bad moment.

Ebonyi of yesterday is doing great. The rate at which the state is growing, in the next 10years it will become one of the best state in Africa. And that will be possible because of the less corrupt mindset of the people and government and the hustling spirit they possessed.

Is it because of ebonyi paying N70k, you want to take a shot at south west states? You want to compare ebonyi that has a little above 1.53 million workforce with Osun state that has more than double of state work force. What did you smoke this morning again?

Number of people ebonyi will pay with N70k minimum are not many compare with huge numbers of work force each south west state will pay. South West is not in your league to compare any of south east states with, you are better off comparing south east with north east because you are similar in many ways. They are better than south east in some areas while south east is better in some other areas. South west is too big for you to compare your states with, you no dey fear?
