Why Eguavoen should Be Allowed To Coach Super Eagles On A Parmanent Basis

Augustine Eguavoen the technical director of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) makes a return as interim coach of the senior national team the Super Eagles for the fourth time.

Eguavoen popularly called Cerezo will be returning in his favourite "fire fighter role – ‘’ for the team having taken up similar role when Genot Rohr was sacked prior to the AFCON.

As he lead us to the AFCON posting a team that played a heart worming display before chrashing out to Tunisia.
Cerezo will be returning for his
fourth stint in this role and
is known for his preference for entertaining football, which aligns well with the expectations of Nigerian fans. As against the defensive pattern introduced by Jose Peseiro

Indeed we can say Eguavoen, Emmanuel Amunike and Sampson Siasia are among the very few elite class of home grown coaches who can typically play the Nigerian style of football. The High press, wing football, just similar to the Dutch 4-4-2 play.

Brazil is known for Samba, Spain for
Tiki taka, England for kick and run, and Italy for robust defensive play

So it's high time Nigeria get a true coach who plays the real Nigerian style of football.

And in the mist of NFF inability to get a coach I think Eguavoen should not only take the interim role but be given a long term contract to build a formidable team that can take us far.

Agreed in the past we have had some failed moment with Eguavoen. But we can start afresh and build again.

The reason is simply instead of getting a coach who doesn't understand Nigeria football philosophy or has not even coached anywhere near Africa. Why can we simple trust and appoint our own who have learned under Westerhof and so can play the entertaining and attacking flair Nigeria is know for.

The only time we managed to allow Stephen Keshi who is also a product of Westerhof to coach the super eagles, we saw the joy Nigerians had.

Please enough of searching for coaches who don't know Nigeria pattern. Eguavoen should be given the job parmanently or another option is Emmanuel Amunike and Sampsam Siasia.

Most countries are turning to thier qualifed ex international. The likes of Senegal have a local coach who is doing amazing well because he had
the Federation support.

Nigeria it's time to trust our own and build our own. It's time to believe in our selves . We can't be having inferiority complex if we want to rule the world. Imagine what Emenolu is doing to grow the Saudi Arabia league.
Can we trust our own to replicate same here .Nigeria let's do it

If he proves a point in the ongoing afcon qualifications, then,he should be given the chance to be the super eagles permanent coach..

I think Cerezo has a way of commanding respect and grinding results

Hopefully they'll get the maximum points

Some Nigerians are incurably emotional.

And by the way, Eguavoen was ably assisted by the two NPFL coaches of Rangers and Remo Stars who are current champion and Runners-up.

Re: Why Eguavoen Should Be Allowed To Coach Super Eagles On A Parmanent Basis by GanagiBitrus:
Too premature to start singing his praises, especially after this match against a lowly Benin.

Nevertheless...
#1. A foreign coach is devoid of tribal sentiments.
#2. We blacks have an inferiority complex in favor of whites.

Aside these, our local coaches can perform as well as their foreign counterparts, if not better.

I commend him for inviting one SouthAfrican-based player. Its time to hunt for players that also play outside Europe

Nigerians are emotional wrecks! He has won one match, everyone is saying NFF should keep him. When he loses two matches, everyone will start asking for his head undecided

Super Eagles needs a foreign coach!
