What God Told Me Today In The Church Concerning Tithes by nikky5(op):
Few days ago I and daughter read the testimony of the seven Columbian youths who were taken by the Lord to hell and heaven.
One of them gave an account how they saw a man burning in hell fire because while he was alive, he didn't tithe.
This sparked a debate between me and my teenage children that will God send a person to hell if he or she didn't tithe.
I decided to go to God in prayer. This is because I used to tithe but I was greatly blessed with contracts during the periods I didn't tithe. So I stopped.
But this morning, the Lord spoke to me about tithing in the church.
He told me that I cannot go to hell if I don't tithe. He said He has shed His blood on the cross for our salvation and it's not mentioned anywhere in the entire Bible that none tithers will die and go to hell. He told me that pastors brought the old testament tithing to raise money for the church work. He said it is not a sin if you don't tithe and you cannot go to hell.

It’s good that you now understand not tithing won’t send you to hell. However, the issue I have with your statement is your claim that God told you this. It’s actually your intuition telling you these things. Stop attributing everything to God. Tomorrow, someone else might claim that God told them if they don’t tithe, hell will be their final destination. It makes me wonder-how can the same God tell different people contradictory things?

People have every right to say that God told them anything, so long what they claim to be told is the right information.
But where the information is wrong, then you cannot say God told me..

The only problem here is whether the listener is able to detect the validity of the information or not?

It is his wish telling him.

And yesterday and tomortow someone will.say God told him...

Whereas, God has already Said all that He wanted to Say but devils will always keep cooking up confusion and say "God told me..."

They shall all answer for their Lies.

How do we verify divine communication? If a claim that "God told me" is only valid when the information is "right," then there must be an agreed-upon standard or authority to determine what God would or would not say. But who or what has the authority to verify God's words? Is it religious leaders, sacred texts, or personal intuition?

If the information from the pastor for example is God said you should give to the church because the church preach the gospel, then you can verify from the bible where people give to the church in order to propagate the gospel.
You can also chose not to verify anything and give by your personal intuition and reasoning without a religious leader telling you anything, knowing that preaching the gospel is good.
But where the information is saying pay tithe.
Then you need to ask yourself, what is tithe?
How is tithe different from giving?
You can verify from your bible whether tithe was supported in Christianity or whether the pastor is trying to use your head to make money

I'm trying to understand: is it the same God who instructed Dr. Abel Damina that tithing is not mandatory, who also told Pastor Adeboye that tithing is essential? How can two respected pastors have such differing views on this topic, both claiming guidance from God?

what I see about Dr Abel Damina, he is an intelligent man.

And obviously from the look of things, it is more convenient for God to use intelligent people than less intelligent people.
Example : Because Paul was more intelligent than Peter, he did greater things than Peter inspite that Peter met Jesus Christ one on one and Paul didn't
who also told Pastor Adeboye that tithing is essential?
He read it from the old testament but refuses to see that it does not apply anymore in the new testament. This is what Abel Damina was intelligent enough to detect

in the real sense, the two cannot be guidance from God at the same time.
It's either one is right and the other is wrong or vice versa

Got it, now I understand your perspective. One person might be lying while the other is genuinely receiving guidance from God. If we eventually identify the liar, it would imply that any other pastor making similar claims as that liar could also be deceitful.

you are correct. Salvation is only through faith in Jesus christ not tithing, church attendance or any good works, these things are good on their own and God would bless you if you do but they don't give anyone eternal life or using the misused language make you make heaven.

Dr. Abel Damina is indeed both smart and intelligent, as you noted. However, unlike some others, he doesn't claim to receive direct messages from God. Instead, he emphasizes that God's words have already been clearly communicated through the Bible.

As a matter of fact, anyone who by-pass the bible to to say anything contrary, has not heard from God.
What you hear from God must correlate with what the bible says.

I believe that, what will make a pastor by-pass bible is because the message he claims to hear from God which he delivers to his church members is exactly what they want to hear to console themselves. Not necessarily what the bible want them to know.

People just want to hear that they can perform certain rituals like tithing all to get money from God in return.
But it doesn't work that way
