Band A: “We don’t want 24 hours electricity” Estate residents lament to IKEDC

Residents of Jakande Estate, Oke Afa, Ejigbo LCDA has said that they don’t want 24 hours electricity, that the Band A placement was not sustainable for them.





The Estate Youth Parliament Chairman, Mr Adeyemi Yusuf said that things are hard at this point in time for everybody.





Yusuf said that this was not the right time for power providers to place Estate residents on Band A at all.





He said that Band A fee was on the high side noting that as at the period our Estate was getting metered,we could easily purchase 100 units for ₦5,000 but gradually it’s was negatively changing until it got to where we are.





He lamented the placement of an already expensive band to a more expensive one and lot of people are finding it very hard to do so many things.





He said that Estate residents are happy and comfortable with our current band B placement and we do not want band A at all and called for reversal to Band B.







Commenting, Engr Fatai Oloko, President, Jakande Estate said that residents are majorly senior citizen.





Oloko said that a significant number are retired with 30 per cent being pensioners.





He said Inflation in the country has devalued their pension and would appreciate the management of Ikeja Electric to leave our feeders on BAND B.





Also, a resident, Deacon Olugbenga Ogunlaja said that Ikeja Electric didn’t go alone the laid down objectives of late Lateef Jakande for establishing the estate.





Ogunlaja said that the estate wae established for low cost and down trodden people in the society.





He asked what would low cost people be doing on Band A if not to add to their burdens.





He also appealed to Ikeja Electric to please follow the laid down objectives of establishing the estate and take them back to Band B.

It Is obvious that they're more sensible and realistic than you.
.they've considered every índices that makes economy viable for transaction and it can not be found. Instead of owing the utility company or being embarrassed for pileup debt, they've decided to cut their coat according to their material.

My house is on band B and my workplace is on band A.
I look forward to my house to be upgraded to band A.

At egan. They dont have light at all for like 11 days straight no light and even when the light will come is by 1am to 5am . That's it

My parent's house is on band A; I know how much they pay for the electricity bill.
And yes, they have constant light, but I don't want it for my house as they pay 10x what we pay in the compound I lived with 2 more tenants. Although where I live, it could be band H or band U as we barely get light.
