Big surprise, in 2016 i was fully in support of Hilary Clinton (cos na strong woman, given her known history with Bill), and was also worried about Trump when he won cos of the 'nasty online reputation', not until others opened my eyes to see the games being played, and truly i saw the games, and i have kept my eyes peeled since then. She was the one who dodged and wasnt pressed to answer when she was asked her stance on permitting 3rd trimester abortions, cos she knows Roe v Wade allows up to even the period of dilation sef, as per legally. Just look up minnesota (Walz) abortion requirements on any news site even, and see with your own eyes. It is fully legal, but they conveniently included that such cases/requests are rare. You could watch any of those videos up there, they addressed most of what i have said with more vivid detail.

Despite having 14yrs experience of driving through the nook and crook of Nigeria thinking I was a professional driver, my doubt was cleared and I had to relearn and throw a way the bad habits .

As Oga Lexus once said “the more years you spent driving the Nigeria roads, the more lessons and trainings you would need to pass unless you are among the few lucky ones. 😂

First one ( decided to try myself on without prior lessons, failed in my observation as we do not have the 6points check in Nigeria driving and also failed at the roundabout) as we don’t have the give way to right issh in Nigeria, na who fast pass 😂.

Second one (after 6hrs lessons, I didn’t position well at the roundabout again as I was turning third exit at the right and I was meant to be positioned inside more) this isn’t also taught in Nigeria driving.

Third one after 6hrs lesson again( very silly mistake and I failed from the beginning, we parked on the right side of the road at the driving centre. When we were about to move, for a seconds I forget it is left hand driving so I moved out while being on the right before I could swap to left, dem press break.

Fourth one after 2hrs lesson, (was also silly just as the third one and it was close to the end of the test, I got to a junction to go right and I forgot to keep left for a seconds and started moving right before I knew it, dem hammer break)

Fifth one was today Didn’t take any lessons and it was smooth and came out with three minors.

NB: I never drove with my Nigeria license when I got here. Observation, Roundabouts, Owning the road over those coming from side roads, pedestrian crossing etc are not a common knowledge in Nigeria driving oo.

The general narrative would only take time and concerted effort to change. Wouldn't happen soon. What the last 10 yrs did was to elevate such rhetoric to the front of our national discourse with government ministers saying the worst which ultimately culminated in the riots. Hopefully, the governments response should help cause a reset.

Labour would likely let in much less people and might even be 'tougher' on immigration but the difference I hope is that such rhetoric is not kept at the fore and the country can start looking in to solve its issues and ultimately appreciate immigrants for what they bring.

Stupid headline, but if you read the article, the Telegraph did make some admissions, such as that the average migrant worker pays more in tax than they receive in public services throughout their lives. It left some glaring omissions, such as the fact that a) both low-waged native born and migrant workers all are a cost to the exchequer when they are low-earning, b) this reported cost of £150,000 is over 40 years, which means it assumes that the hypothetical low-earning worker earns half the average wage for their entire working life, something which is not always the case - the whole ethos of immigration is the acknowledged drive that most immigrants have to better their circumstances, which was what made them leave their native countries in the first place.

It always amuses me how UK media houses drive the narrative with the heading and the opening line/paragraph. To many readers that determines most of what they take in.
Imagine the heading and first paragraph whereas that same article goes on to give the quoted. Just like with certain racial issues, you can't accuse them for lying. They have reported thesame fact in a way to siut their narrative which ultimately defeats its purpose. All you need do is look at the comments that follow.

One of the effects of the riots on me was thoroughly disabusing me of the ideas of how most people here are, that I had formed based on my interactions that have mostly been with urbane, highly-educated/qualified people.

The riots themselves and all the roundabout justifications in the aftermath made me realize that the far-right are actually far and wide, although they're most active when they can be anonymous or in mobs.

Reading those comments now keeps me grounded and in full conciousness of the fact that a large proportion of the population actually holds those kinds of views, even when evidence is freely available to disprove their assumptions. They will happily read the headlines and first paragraphs and go off spreading fake news to strenghten their racist and anti-immigrant arguments even when the reality is just a few paragraphs down - which, BTW, is exactly what the publication wrote the article that way to achieve.

It was all this scare mongering that made me overthink the test with my many years of driving in Nigeria.
The UK driving test is so basic, it’s beggar’s belief the hype around it (maybe if you’re a new driver without prior experience in moving a car). I did mine just once (manual test with only one minor).

With the plethora of information online in 2024 (YouTube & TikTok especially), plus 3 sessions with driving instructor and endless practice on my own (one year intl driving licence), there’s really no excuse to throw away money more than two times (maximum).

Big surprise, in 2016 i was fully in support of Hilary Clinton (cos na strong woman, given her known history with Bill), and was also worried about Trump when he won cos of the 'nasty online reputation', not until others opened my eyes to see the games being played, and truly i saw the games, and i have kept my eyes peeled since then. I dont excuse his stupid shitty language or behaviour, and i certainly dont agree with Trump on things 100%, and i have put that on display here in my own words many times, but as per keeping it about the meat of the matter, i still like to stay on point/facts. The facts are the two biggest issues in America today that resonate with majority of the people are uncontrolled illegal immigration, and state of the economy. This isnt about niceties. Undoubtedly, the two parties are selling themselves and their proposed solution very differently.
