The League is shaping up to be honest. The quality of football is also improving. Three away wins in the first week of action inspires confidence. For this to be sustained, the league management must be intentional about severe punishments for home teams who try to scuttle matches when it's not going their way. This will force the clubs to pay more attention to securing their match premises against such occurrences. This automatically puts crowd violence/pitch invasion to sleep which will also boost attendance and gate takings. Nigerians love football. We can make this league work same way we made our entertainment industry work.

Big congrats to Enugu rangers for qualifying for the group stages of the CAF champions league. Wishing them a successful outing
They have not qualified yet.
They defeated their opponent from Angola one nil in the first leg. Second leg comes up in a week' s time. That is the qualifying round before the group stage.

Get your facts right.

It's good nairaland have a thread for local content. Only issue is that it will now be occupied by gamblers, which are in all honesty possessed by demonic entities.

Nigeria Premier Football league 2024/2025 season

Rangers were held to a 0-0 draw by El-Kanemi Warriors in the opening game of the 2024/25 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

Both teams created chances to score in the game but were let down by their poor finishing.

Rangers had goalkeeper Japheth Opubo to thank for his impressive performance.

The Flying Antelopes have recorded just one win in three competitive games this season.

El-Kanemi Warriors make a big impression in their first game in the NPFL after a few years in the Nigeria National League, NNL.

The remaining nine other matchday one matches will be played next weekend.

Nice publicity for the NPFL but no publicity beats having a professionally edited highlight videos for each game on YouTube.
I want to support the Nigerian League but I can't sit down to watch a football game being broadcasted using 144p video shot on a 5mp camera on a not-so-good looking pitch.

Thanks for the update.

Except Paul Offor you erroneously said he is Coach of Kano Pillars.

Yes, He was appointed by the Board but the Governor of the state turned it down. He opted for indigene of the state and Paul Offor was let go.

He is coaching a NNL side for now since he's good in unearthing and nurturing talents.

Re: Nigeria Premier Football League 2024/2025 Season by lereinter(m): 9:01pm On Sep 15, 2024
The npfl would have developed more if the players are included in the senior national team

We should have atleast 7 players from the npfl in the national team

Even when the league was not this transparent, and glamorous we usually have home based players in the team

Now that it has become better and technical the nff are footdragging

There's nothing backward about it

The government is the financier

We have seen leagues where foreign nationals are given quota

Even some countries want indigenous coaches

Yes. I agree with you.

Are elections less important than football hence why we use sentiment and ethnicity to determine our leaders in the local, state and federal governments either in the legislative or executive branch huh

edet19892015:
Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution.

According to the Greeks, they are three types of people on Earth,
1. The idiots,
2. The tribesmen, and
3. The citizens.

Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.
The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

1. When the Greeks used the word "Idiot", they did not use it as a curse word.
Idiots are people who just don’t care.
If they sit for exams, they will cheat.
If they are in government they will steal.

An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.

IDIOTS won't attend monthly neighborhood meetings. They won't pay security dues. They won't contribute to community development. Even when they see or know about something that will harm others in the community they won't report it. When they see/know/have something that will benefit their community they won't share.

In fact, Idiots don't care to register for or vote in an election, yet they complain the most. If they register to vote, IDIOTS will sell their votes for peanuts.

According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

2. The next set of people are "Tribesmen", these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.

These are people that believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.
It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.

When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion, gang membership, group membership, party membership and even cult membership as a tribe.

A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes. They trust only their tribesmen

3. The last group are "Citizens".
These are people who like to do things the right way.
They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.

They drive within speed limits.
They respect the laws, and won’t cheat in exams.
In government, they won’t steal.
They are compassionate and give to others to promote their well-being.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.
The Greeks called this group "The Citizens".

Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots, others have so many idiots.

A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.
And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.

Where do you belong? Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen? Reflect on your life.
Reflect about your immediate community, city, state and nation.
